12% mantra? I've never been killed by kirin's flow as a monk -- worst I've had was carby on lightsday took me about to 200hp. I'd assume elvaan and galka have an even easier time of it.

AF2 legs/hands help a lot too. You lose a 4 (or 6) attack, and some accuracy from the haidate -- but gain +5kick so the DoT is actually decently close.

When we do stuff like dyn-xarc <1 ally, I use carbonara and wear some hp gear for the ninja NM, I'm at 1830hp+. No mantra merits yet, but I'm considering dropping Formless Strikes and definitely dropping Invigorate.

Say what you will about Genome but...

It also makes you think about how SE's team tested each NM, people complaining about how hard some mobs like AV are and how they have to semi-cheat and also throw multiple alliances at it, yet supposedly any NM that's added to the game has passed a test where a SE team could kill it with a single alliance.. seeing for how long we've killed Kirin the 'hard-way' makes you think perhaps there are better or more creative ways to do a lot of other things, which is what I think is great in FFXI
