Manual Server Change

I heard from a pretty reliable source that if you work with packets you can edit it so the game recognizes you on another server or something along those lines, and be reliable source i mean this guy was the guy who fished up bastok beds(There not implemented in "normal" obtainable methods). Anyone hear other news relating to this topic, or if others have had progress towards it?

That would be very unlikely considering every server are probably on different...server.


Assuming it was possible, that would require from SE part some awful programming, and what you could do/check would probably be very limited

I highly doubt this. Although server changing would be nice, even if it was done the WoW way.

Well a lot of things seem server side but they actually weren't. For example, being able to fish up any item at will. Being able to trade ex items(was patched tho). Duping gil using AH, way he explained it to me was changing the ID # on a person to replicate another so when u put an item on AH it'd be recognizing you as someone else so you wouldn't lose your item because it would recognize as someone else putting it up.

If this were even true, you'd most likely get banned within the first hour of being on a different server...probably less than 5 minutes if you had the same character name as someone already on that server.

Would force you to change your name upon entering server, or at least i'd assume so. Kinda like when people delete restore have a mule of same name but it forces you to change name.

edit: Also i'd assume that those people making a private server are using a pretty similar approach because didn't they say they had to transfer your char from se's server to theirs?

Was fishing client side? it's not anymore if it was.


Duping is more like a bad transaction than something done client side. They were doing the transaction before having the confirmation of both party

what s/he is referring to in the OP is the work done by the private FFXI server group, they've got a sandbox to play in now...

he is referring to the method they use to get the client to switch to the sandbox.

it has no use on the offical servers...

and if you tried it, your account would get banned almost instantly i bet... (course, you wouldnt be able to log into the server as your character data wouldnt be found...)
