I'm watching this movie at 4:30 AM called The Pumpkin Karver (yes with a K, yes lol) and who happens to be the producer / director?

Sheldon Silverstein.

This movie is a masterpiece to classicly bad horror movies, and small country towns with a disproportionate amount of attractive girls, but still, could it be the same Shel Silverstein?

If it is, I'm gonna be stalking down other titles he's produced, my interests have been piqued.

Well, it doesn't say anything about any books he may have written http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0799061/ , but it says the director is Sheldon Silverstein, don't know if Shel was short for Sheldon or not. But I'm going to say no, unless you think your children's author wrote/directed 'The Erotic Adventures of Robinson Crusoe".

Ya he worked for playboy magazine. He had a great interpretation of Hamlet in it that someone recited at a cast party in my college days.
