BLM / RDM magic merit advice

Been asking friends of mine, but having a hard time figuring out what I wanna do with this. I'm a BLM75 right now, soon to also have RDM75, and I'd like to use both jobs regularly. Thing is, I'm not sure what to do about my magic merits. Initially I was going to cap Elemental, but now I'm thinking that not meriting Enfeebling is going to seriously hurt me if I want to show up to any events as RDM. How critical are Enfeebling/Elemental merits to each job, should I stick all my merits in one, split them?

lv4 enfeebling / lv4 elemental would be fine for most end game stuff, long as you have good gear/HQ Staves. I'm actually debating dropping some elemental merits for enfeebling for RDM 73, soon to be 75. I got pretty much all elemental skill + you can get from gear, don't use it all the time, but I guess I could drop some merits in elemental for that reason. Only thing holding me back is I don't wanna delete merits :/ wish you could switch them around.

i did 4 elemental and 4 enfeebling and have RDM and BLM 75. Suits me fine, and i think it would be kind of stupid to do 6 and 2 or anything like that. Either 8 in one or split evenly imo

I have 5ele/3enf as just BLM75 and I think the enfeeble help a ton on that job.

BLM AF Mitts with that +15 Ele Skill make it hard to be resisted too bad by anything.

The question for me is, do I want to drop some Ele Skill for Blu magic now. :/

Alright, definitely going to split them up then, probably 5ele/3enfeeb.

wrong way. Go 8 elemental, 0 enfeeb.

You have JSE head and pants + AF1body to enfeeb as blm. And meritting Enfeeb for RDM won't do much of a difference.

Elemental merits will server you a better purpose and will make more of a difference. Nerfing a Burst II is a lot worst than nerfing a para or a sleep...

I was initially thinking along the same lines, that a missed enfeeble is no big deal, just cast it again. But a friend pointed out that in a lot of situations, landing Gravity on your first try is pretty important. So I guess I'm still undecided about this...

lack of enfeeb merits gimps your paralyze/slow though, because you will have to stack on more macc/skill to land the spell, less MND won't proc para as much, same goes for the % slow you get from landing slow.

Its all kinda up to you.
What kinda elemental magic gear you got for your BLM?
If you have alot then you should be ok to merit enfeebling, if you don't then might wanna go 4/4. For exp it probably won't matter much which you merit, but HNM is where you'll hurt if you don't have enough enfeebling skill as RDM to land Slow etc. or if your elemental magic skill is too low, you'll be resisted pretty often.

I guess you could wait til you are 75 RDM and see which one you like playing end game better, then decide which one you wanna merit 8)

Probably what I should do, chances are I will enjoy BLM more, and just end up using RDM for soloing most of the time.

blm & rdm leveled pretty much means you'll only be going to events as blm, unless your shell has a lolblm army...

enfeebling merits are only needed if you're going to solo a lot. if you ever want to do things like faust and zipacna, you'll need atleast 6 enfeebling merits. if not, you won't have any problems landing on rdm in exp with no merits and even in endgame things tend to be either easy to land on or completely impossible/very luck based..

I'm going to merit 3-4 enfeebling to level my rdm with, that and hq staves should pretty much kill any resists from xp-class mobs. Once I get to 75 I'll decide which I like better for endgame stuff that I'm not on monk: RDM (not likely) or BLM (more likely) and go 8/0.

Really just levelling rdm for duo/trio and xp flexibility

I'm 75 BLM RDM with amazing RDM gear and what i'd like to think as good BLM gear, my merits went 5 enf 3 ele, due to the fact i'd like to cast enfeebs on monsters without having such a huge loss of +skill when I choose to use a stat boosting peice of equipment over a skill boosting one.

If I was a HNM heavy BLM, and didnt RDM much at all, i'd probably have chosen Elemental 5 / Enfeebling 3, or 6:2, etc.

It really digs down to the way you play, and why you want the merits. Also what gear you own should make a difference in your choice.
