what are the .dats for the calls so i can delete them
what are the .dats for the calls so i can delete them
well that seems a little over the top
over the top? i find it necessary with idiots putting calls in their macros as if we don't know they are pulling.
I just goto START -> programs -> playonline -> FFXI config -> all sounds off
thanks
since this is on topic is there really a difference with <call> <scall> and the other ones? i never really got it
<scall> is for the ps2 players, whenever you do a <call> the ps2 controller shakes (mines disabled because of retards), <scall> is a call that doesnt shake the ps2 controller.Originally Posted by LinktheDeme
If you want to change or completely remove <call>s from FFXI you can take the following steps.
1.) Open your "Program Files" folder for your system.
2.) Find the "PlayOnline" folder and go into that and then go into "SquareEnix".
3.) Open the "FINAL FANTASY XI" directory.
4.) Open the "sounds" directory.
5.) Go into the "win" directory then go into "se" (sound effects) directory.
6.) Go into the "se000" directory.
The following are the filenames of the various <call>s:
se000017.spw <call>
se000018.spw <call1>
se000019.spw <call2>
se000020.spw <call3>

I recommend you back them up somewhere. I initially just copied <call11> and renamed it to all the others, so every call was <call11>, but then I got annoyed with that and just deleted them.
If you know an update is coming, I recommend putting them back before you d/l the update, 'cause god knows what S-E checks up on these days.
Gotta love being on a Dynamis run or something and a person uses a chat macro for a JA or WS with a <call> in it. I've once said "/p Wait, people still use chat and calls in their JAs at 75?" but the person either ignored me or didn't see it. :/
There's also a pack of calls with reduced volumes on FFXIDats.
The funniest thing I've seen call related was when a couple LSmates and I were helping friends do Aquaducts. Somehow we got grouped up with a smaller party of people we didn't know and the whm had the most GOD AWFUL /p macros with calls in everyone of them.
We politely asked her to remove them or at least just get rid of the calls.
Her response, "I pay to play this game, I'll play the way I want. . . The calls/macros stay"
So my buddy created a /p {Boost} <call5> macro.
Since we're sharing funny anecdotes...
I have a dual monitor setup, and I'm usually watching a movie/tv show on the other while I play FFXI. Some movies I download I get extremely low volume on, so I turn off all game sounds and crank the volume up pretty high. Some whm in Dynamis had a <call> in their protect/shell macro...completely blew out my left speaker
Since then, I keep calls deleted and don't miss them at all.
god damnit now I need to find another way to annoy you...
last few parties ive had on rdm had people with <call1> or <call3> on their pull / JA / WS macros...
i just blisted them for the duration of the party
The quite calls on ffxidats seem to link to a windower topic that no longer exists. Can anyone post an updated link that might work?
Related topic. Does anyone know which of the sound files is for the targeting chime? I know it's in the same place as calls because I've deleted by mistake before. Fuck I hate that noise, especially if you have to spam tab to find ???.
