Most have been forced to come by their parents, who are paying upward of $1,300 a month -- about 10 times the average salary in China -- for the treatment.
Awesome, so all it takes to live like a king in China is to scream "Its for your own good!" and electrocute people, noted.

because in china, the government takes upon itself to "cleanse" its populace. more specifically, it has passed a series of outlandish legislations in the name of "for your own good", such as regulations on how many hours people can play WoW or other online games, death penalty for drug users, censorship on BBS and forums, etc. no wonder kidds have no self control when they stumble upon new games/technologies, because they have grown accustomed to all the absurd regulations established by the government.

Theyre locking up the RMT, not banning them.

I laughed when I read that, only because I get that many hours online at work and then double that when I get home XD. Though it makes you wonder if they act like Chapelle the first couple of weeks, "Gimme some internet man, I'll suck yo dick!" Almost as funny as the guy that killed himself over meeting someone from online...almost.

China has a history of using Physical force to combat what it sees as
"a grave social problem" that threatens the nation."
While i do agree that the internet is addicting and people need to take better care less they become addicted and start posting here and other places like 4chan and somethingawful, Chinas harsh methods are not the right solution.

    Side note
Electroshock therapy, anyone actually know if thats useful? i could have sworn i read somewhere that it wasnt.

According to Newsweek it sometimes helps with depression when nothing else works, but it also causes memory loss and stuff. Some senator's wife or something did an interview about it.

the problem is that the government is out to get you and its power is unchecked due to the one-party system. plus, Chinese are too sheepish to do anything about it.
