    The Incredible Hulk

Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk!
    Source: Variety April 15, 2007

Edward Norton has been set by Marvel Studios to play Bruce Banner in The Incredible Hulk.

The Louis Leterrier-directed film will be distributed by Universal Pictures on June 13, 2008. The movie will shoot this summer in Toronto.

Norton takes over a role played in the Ang Lee-directed Hulk by Eric Bana. Though that film opened strongly, it didn't fare as well as other Marvel efforts, including Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four and, most recently, Ghost Rider.

Marvel Studios, which has a $525 million credit facility obtained through Merrill Lynch, made The Incredible Hulk its second film under that arrangement, and seeks to make a sequel that is less self-serious and more in line with the comic series and TV show. Leterrier directed the action-filled Transporter and its sequel, as well as Unleashed.

The new movie begins with Banner on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a misunderstood green menace.

"Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business," Marvel Studios production president Kevin Feige said in a statement. "His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way."

The script for The Incredible Hulk was written by Zak Penn, who had a hand in crafting two "X-Men" films and Fantastic Four for Marvel.

The movie is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Marvel's Feige. Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee are executive producing.

The second X-Men film was quite good. (Too bad the first one sucked and the third one is dead to me.)

I've never seen the first Incredible Hulk movie because it was supposed to be so awful. I think the studio is taking a huge risk making another one. Also, I don't think of The Incredible Hulk when I think of Edward Norton...

I personally enjoyed the first fantastic four movie, I thought it kept to the heart of the comic rather well.

This might be good. From what I've read on Wikipedia, Abonimation(sic) is going to be in it. If it has one kick-ass fight in it, it'll be worth it.

Ghost Rider sucked, a lot. I hope Marvel doesn't aim in that direction.

How was Ghost Rider going to not suck, there were two big hurdles between that movie and being decent.

    • *First, Nicholas Cage cannot act. He just phones in his usual horrible performance, but this time with a horrible Johnny Bravo impersonation.

*Second, it's about Ghost Rider. What, were the Great Lakes Avengers too busy to film a movie? A cardboard cut out of Toonces, the cat who can drive a car, is still a more compelling movie protagonist than Ghost Rider.

So in conclusion, until Marvel finally decides to stop being morons and do a well-written Deadpool movie, all of their new movie franchises are going to suck more and more until they are finally forced to make a movie featuring Speedball (AKA the worst named hero ever) with Batroc the Leaper as the main villain. Unless Batroc gets uppity, and they have to replace him with Paste Pot Pete.

Slightly off topic, but I was having this discussion with someone at work today.

Who would win in an arm wrestling match, the incredible hulk or superman?

Hulk's physical prowess is bounded only by his level of anger. If you read Superman #75, you saw him get his ass kicked by Doomsday. Superman's strength is excessive, but not boundless. Hence, the Hulk can defeat Superman in an arm-wrestling contest, were he angry enough.

Honestly, whoever the author felt like winning.

We are likely to see Sentry fight the Hulk in WWH, I guess that might answer what Marvel thinks.

They've upped Superman's power level since then though. The writers seem to be moving him quickly back to his ridiculous pre-Crisis level of strength. (AKA able to move planets and other assorted stupidity.) He's probably back to being the strongest person in the DC Universe again- Bizarro and Supergirl were stronger when they started putting pre-Crisis elements back into continuity, I'm not even sure if Darkseid is stronger these days.

I wish Superboy-Prime could punch the universe again and make all of this pre-Crisis crap go away. >_>

I heard that it sucked so I didn't watch it when it came out. I saw it the other day and I really loved it, one of the unsung Marvel movies. He doesn't have any powers but the vengeance factor is enough to satisfy me.
