So we have a pretty big house and of course a metal roof which i hear isn't great for wireless anyways. I'm trying to find something to boost my signal in the house. basally the house is shaped like an "L" and we want to go from the top of the L down to the bottom of it. But the signal totally blows. I've seen yah'll talk about linksys and wasn't sure what kinda range booster i should get. Or if i should get another modem any help would be great. I kinda wanna get it done by the end of the week.

Boosting the signal rarely (but sometimes) helps in your situation. It isn't that the signal isn't strong enough, it just can't get through your walls. We do large scale outdoor wireless networks and if there isn't any trees or buildings in the way you can reach distances you wouldn't think are possible

Just setup two access points.. (not routers) behind the same router via cabling and assign your computers static ip addresses. There are more complicated was of doing this but this is really simple and gets the job done, your laptop will be able to switch between access points without dropping your connection.

One quick fix that works in a lot of situations is to drop the station to 802.11b instead of 802.11g. Your Internet connection isn't fast enough to keep up with 54mbs transfer and wireless bandwidth is kind of a compromise between speed/distance/etc so slowing her down can make for better gaming.
