I don't think they would show something like that. Isn't it against the law to show someones death on TV anyways?

FCC would have your ass for it. So, same thing, basically.

No particular remorse for a sexual predator, although I would take offense to it if the media were banging at this door, letting all his neighbors know he was a sexual predator without a conviction. Due process and such. Could end up completely humiliating a innocent man in front of his community by mistake, and that's pretty much irreversible.

Wow, that website is a bit slow.

That episode aired well over a half year ago, and from what I can remember, they did show the whole thing. Well as best they could, only cameras outside, closed shades and such inside, but you could hear the gun go off.

The whole suing thing was on the news after the show since it was filmed days prior.

Until they're acquitted. Then they can continue on running their daycares, teaching at school, babysitting, or whatever it is they used to do. The parents will understand, and even if someone didn't, they couldn't stop him from teaching or running a daycare anyway. The most they could do is keep their own kid from going there.

No, because the only reason they were acquitted is because the state wasn't able to prove it.

Most people think that way and worse when it comes to certain offenses.

Would it legally prevent them from obtaining a teaching or daycare job? You could say "no" to "have you ever been convicted", the background check wouldn't reveal anything, and if they denied you because of word of mouth, you could sue for the position, possibly.

It's one of those gray areas when it comes to human society. Just because the law says so, doesn't mean humans, and especially those with children aren't going to view the accused with suspicion. The saying: "Where there's smoke, there's fire." is very appropiate.

The DA in charge of prosecuting the people from this taping dropped all of the charges a few weeks ago, basically saying that involving law enforcement in what has evolved into nothing more than an entertainment program is distasteful. I just want to know how the cops that cooperate avoid entrapment charges. Police brutality charges too, the cops on that show seem to like to show off for the camera by tackling guys standing around passively with their hands above their heads.

Re: NBC sued after Predator suicide

Screw all those disgusting pigs. And screw that retarded woman suing. Apparently it's ok for people to be sexual predators as long as they're related to her. Stupid bitch. I'm glad that show exists, maybe it will make some people with thoughts of engaging in child molestation re-evaluate themselves and prevent these awful offenses from occurring in the first place. It's not like the people in the show are innocent. They have piles of chat room transcripts, and the most disturbing thing of all is these loathesome people show up under the false impression that they're going to meet up with a minor.

    1. It's difficult to "show up" at your own house.

    2. Do they bother to get more than one transcript before they roll out the cameras?

Are you watching the same show? The pedophiles show up at a house that the show's producers have set up. They think they're going to a child's house when they're home alone. Maybe they've had different segments aired, but the one I saw the pedos came to a house, the show didn't go to the pedos' homes. (It's also possible that I'm thinking of a different show, but I could swear it's the same one.)If the sick bastards drove to a home under the expectations that they were going to meet a child, then I don't think more than one transcript is necessary.

    *Edit:

I was right. They don't go to the pedos' homes:

For the Dateline NBC stories, would-be predators are invited to an undercover house used by Dateline NBC for the duration of the operation; in accordance with Perverted Justice policy, phone contact is always established with a suspected predator before any appointment is set up. The visitors are led to believe that the supposed minor is home alone, and upon coming inside the house, are soon confronted by Hansen, who interviews each one at length about their intentions.

In Oklahoma all my arrests, charges, and civil actions will show up on my OSBI background check even if I wasn't convicted. They wouldn't deny a teaching position specifically because of an arrest for soliciting a minor, but they will sure as fuck would find an excuse to not hire you.

I kind of think the dateline NBC stuff is kind of legit though, because they would face a lot of liability if their shit wasn't as accurate as possible. I also don't see what reason they would have to fake any evidence because of how many predators there are out there, but it is always a possibility I suppose.

It would probably be enough to stop you teaching for life in the UK. The arrests would show up on our CRB background check, and considering that from next year we can be struck off the teaching register for having a private life that doesn't live up to the "moral standards" required to be a teacher - I'd say you'd be pretty much fucked.

Re: NBC sued after Predator suicide

    Here's the scenario:

Someone hot IM's you and starts hitting on you, trying to get you to come over. After everything's arranged they spring on you that they're 16/14. You DECLINE to come over and stop talking to them, 2 hours later a TV crew shows up at your home with law enforcement who 'just want to talk'.

Now no, the show didn't put the gun to his head or pull the trigger; but they still have no excuse for their behavior. Getting pedophiles is one thing, but this show and others like it resort to bait and switch tactics that only harm innocent people. We're talking about destroying innocent peoples lives for entertainment purposes.

I kind of think the dateline NBC stuff is kind of legit though, because they would face a lot of liability if their shit wasn't as accurate as possible.
The main reason we don't hear about this show getting the living hell sued out of it is probably because they settle out of court. Lets them keep the show on the air and rake in money from the people who watch this crap.
