Low #s events with a COR

Posting this since last COR thread I started got lost in the rollback it seems.

Do any groups use CORs for small group events? i.e LBC, low # Proto-Omega/Ultima, etc? Rolls aside, in situation like that perhaps COR can be a bit more useful? A decent Quick Draw setup can add a decent amount of damage over the course of a fight, as well as occasional Slug Shots, while keeping out of range of some nasty AoE the majority of the time and are fairly good at staying behind the hate line, it seems pretty viable. Usually when I do stuff like this, I don't get the chance to come as COR, and from people i've asked "No, we don't really use COR almost ever, we barely have any anyways"

I've had a corsair come to our salvage a handful of times, it's useful as a semi-support with /whm.

Aye, you'd really wanna /whm, /rdm or /brd to most things.
As for our original question, i have a low man faith torque farming group consisting of;Pld,Cor,Smn,Brd,Rdm.
On salvage runs i usually am refreshing the blms and giving them macc+ which seems to help out tons if they're somewhat naked.

Re: Low #s events with a COR

I've sometimes wondered if a COR could be useful in Salvage... I mean we already have a bard and our monks and the whole mage/nuking team thing going on so it'd be sort of extra but I still can't help wondering if it couldn't be a nice little addition.

We usually do salvage with 2 MNKs 1 BRD 1 WHM 2 RDM and 2-4 BLMs depending on attendance. I'm just hesitant because we're still pretty new to salvage and just started into the phases where we can really farm bosses hardcore.

Re: Low #s events with a COR

I think /WHM or /RDM would be the most ideal. /RDM only if you have enough WHM or /WHM for status cures, as I think SJ and MP cells would probably go last to a Corsair, and /RDM helps with a Quick Draw damage build.

The thing is, /WHM or /RDM doesn't stop you from shooting occasionally for TP, in addition to your Quick Draws. It does mess with your MP pool, which is pretty small, but if you can get a 250~300MP pool and still keep the majority of your R.Acc/R.Atk/QD gear without losing a ton of MP, it seems useful.

Mainly I ask because I wasn't heavily concerned with having absolutely top notch COR DD gear, it's not a merit job for me, and I expected to use it more often as COR/WHM or COR/BRD for events. I have alot of +MP gear, a -enmity setup, a decent QD setup, but my DD setup is far from perfect. But if I end up having to use it low numbers situations, i'd have to invest in a stronger DD setup (i.e: Give in and buy Dusk legs, toss Qiqirn Collar for a Faith Torque, Triumph Earrings, etc).

I have 8 merits in Sword, and figured i'd put another 8 merits in whatever 2nd heavy DD job I decide to level, but now i'm wondering if they wouldn't be better spent in Marksmanship.

We always bring a Cor to salvage, the tanks say Magus Roll reduces the AoE damage by like 200 damage or so (maybe a little lower can't exactly remember) and the enhanced Slow and more Refresh is never bad. 2h + RD can bring up abilities to gain hate after that unfortunate Homing Missle. Then again we don't "low man" usually bring 12+.

Was said already, but COR in salvage is decent. Dont need magic to work, can add some dmg and the buff/2h arent bad either. It's probably the only place ingame where I can find a place for Corsair and give it an unique roll that couldnt be replaced by another job. Still not needed, but it help more than a 2nd brd would imo

awww kay didnt tell when i rolled a V wildcard and gave back whm mp, soulvoice, two hundred fist, not to mention all abilities to finish off zhaylom boss last second. cor needs just abiility cell to be quite effective, and then rnged to be fully effective.

what is nice bout brd is it works anywhere, and while cor works in any party situation there are definately job setups that it works better for. when i run events i like to swap brds for cors between the parties, but most shy away from that cuz it seems to be to much hassle to disband and invite.

Can't base your strats on corsair 2h tho or count on it to win Helped that run since we were out of time after the wipe on floor #5, but we got kinda lucky.

What I mean about corsair is that a melee party is better with 4 songs than 2 songs 2 roll in almost every situation. Corsair is pretty good for refresh in manaburn pt tho.

MNK roll is fucking win for LBC. I also forgot about BLU roll, that's probably a really good idea as well.

of course i didnt equate a lucky roll as strat for cor. subtle blow roll, and still guaranted non two hour ability back and 3-4 chances at restoring one ability is nice. ninja roll is good only if ninja in party really.

other lowman event with 1 2axe war(no ridill ) and thf in party i still stand by cor being better then brd in most melee situations..

Basically, anywhere I would take 2 BRDs I think BRD + COR is better with almost no exception. If you can only have one, BRD is usually better but there are few places that bringing a second BRD would add more than bringing a COR.

A third form of refresh, a larger variety of buffs, ability to enhance debuffs, potential for moderate damage...

COR = Tank PT <3, especially if taking unavoidable magic damage (ie: Wyrms)

Stackable refresh is always welcomed. rdm\brd\cor= 9-10 mp a tick, it's a good thing

2 brd is better in merit party, 2 brd is better for melee zerg. Balladx2 + hastex2 is just as good as refresh roll. I know refresh might be better at time, but there is always a chance for it to fail

Re: Low #s events with a COR

I want us to use COR for JoL tank PT. Currently we are at 2 WHM 2 RDM/NIN 1 BRD, 1 RDM/WHM. We could take out the 2nd WHM and go with a COR for Magus Roll. I went as WHM/COR last fight. Did not see a significant boost, but I think a COR could be a decent addition with MP and COR rolls

I s'pose...At least to a degree, anyway. I still prefer BRD + COR to BRD + BRD for melee/zerg, with certain melee job combinations. With others...BRD+BRD wins. But this thread was about small # events, which usually means ~6 people or less doing something that takes more than 60 seconds to kill. In those cases, I can think of almost none where BRD+BRD > BRD+COR. I'm sure there are some, they're just not coming to me.

Re: Low #s events with a COR

I think it depends on setup, if BRD+COR is better than BRD+BRD. Regardless of luck, you can always depend on Wild Card to at least restore JAs, which if timed well, can be really nice (/WAR jobs getting 2x Berserk in a row, guaranteed extra Barrage/Meditate/other useful JAs, etc), and with Loaded Deck meritted, your chances at getting them back w/o 2HR usage is not weak either, as long as your team communicates well. QD with just Coffinmaker/Iron Bullet/Moldavite is 200~ damage. Depending on setup/day/weather, it can be boosted up to like 250-300, probably more with /RDM, and if your COR is in a BLM PT, Wizard's Roll helps it too.

Re: Low #s events with a COR

COR works well in Salvage, but I stopped bringing it because for a while I was the only BRD doing Salvage. At one point, on the first floor of Bhaflau, I was tanking a Wamoura because of the damage from my Joyeuse, which was pretty funny If you go up with a party like MNK MNK THF BRD COR RDM, Rogue's Roll can be pretty awesome. Gun damage is not bad at all on regular mobs, and Quick Draw has already been mentioned.

im not sure when this turned into is brd + cor as good as 2 brds cuz this not what post bout. if anything we should be talking bout cor and brd in same alliance not in same party. once you have one brd at the event the second brd is pretty much just there for songs.
