BG Forums Hall of Fame Inductee: Elmer the Pointy

Is there a name for the kind of person that works hard to establish a base of information and knowledge for a large group of people? Is there a name for the kind of person that establishes links between two parties that had formerly had extremely little connection? This kind of person does all of this work and does not ask for anything in return. Unfortunately, mankind does not have a name for the kind of person that I speak of.

oh wait...

Congratulations to Elmer the Pointy on being the newest member in the BG Forums Hall of Fame!

All of you forum goers have been calling and even demanding that Elmer the Pointy be inducted in to the BG Forums Hall of Fame, and Blue Gartr couldn't agree with you more.

As of right now, there are several other people that are capable of being inducted, but none of them has worked harder than Elmer has in the past few months. If you are a regular BG Forums visitor and you do not know who Elmer the Pointy is by now, you are doing something horribly wrong.

So what has Elmer done for us? Why is he the newest BG Forums Hall of Fame inductee?

Elmer first debuted on BG Forums as the witty and hilarious movie maker. He brought the forums laughter and entertainment making movies of himself in game, among other things. Elmer's popularity grew even more when he made movies for the ever so popular BG Madness back in March and April. Those brilliant movies sparked the beginning of the Elmer era on the forums.

Elmer had another talent that he put to use; his ability to read and translate Japanese. As a matter of fact, there is a whole subsection of the Advanced Forums accredited to him. He has translated common Japanese words and phrases in to English to allow us to better understand Japanese since we share FFXI with them. He also helpsestablish information links with Square-Enix, so that our opinions and views would be better heard. Lastly, his latest venture has been the translation of the history and information guides of Vana'diel.

Did I mention he is a Council Member of the Church of Yin?

All in all, Elmer has done a lot of BG Forums and he finally gets his recognition and just desserts. We look forward to his continuing work on these forums!

Hi, everyone. I never know how to reply to stuff like this and forum/YouTube PMs. I'm glad that my contributions have meant a lot to people, I've always had fun browsing around BlueGartr.

Thanks so much for the induction. I'll try not to slack off now that I've got the coveted medal icon.

Before this sounds like an Oscar speech, I thought I could take this chance to update people on my future projects.

First off, I'm continuing Vana'diel History updates, of course. Yagudo are in the works and should be up by tomorrow morning. Following them will be Goblins, Sahagin, Antica, Tonberries, Gigas, and Demons. There's tons of information to come on jobs, towns, history timelines... a lot of work I'm hoping to get the book complete by the release of the expansion, since it seems like it would tie in perfectly.

Bercus PM'd me requesting some ideas for the upcoming interview, so I'm working with him on that using the Direct Discussion thread. One reason is to try and get the questions out that are the most important to the most amount of people. Don't worry though, he's still considering every PM that comes through. The second reason is to coordinate what questions he asks and what kind of answers he gets. See, I'm traveling back overseas to Japan for work at the end of this month and will be attending the Tokyo Game Show in September. I'm going to try my best to have RPGamer.com set me up with an interview with the development team. It's very tentative, but I'm talking with the RPGamer big-wig and bercus too about getting in contact with them.

I've only mentioned it in the Mod Forums until now, since I have no idea if I'll get it. Since it's in Japan, interview time to foreigners is limited. If it falls through, then bleh, but I'll still have some pictures and information to post. There will be plenty of JP interviews to work on as well, I'm sure.
