    Introducing new abbreviations for missions

    WM - Windurst Missions
    BM - Bastok Missions
    SM - San d'Oria Missions
    ZM - Zilart Missions (olde)
    PM - Promathia Missions (olde)
TM? AM? - Treasure of Aht Urhgan (I think I've seen AM used before, not sure)
    GM - Goddess Missions

I've never seen the ranked missions ever being abbreviated like Zilart and Promathia missions are. The only real problem I see with Goddess. Not because it says GM(I mean really, it wouldn't be difficult to read the context of someone saying it as a mission), but I believe the JP version uses the word Altana. Basically, I was wondering if people wanted to start a new trend or two.

The reason I'm asking this here because I'm making shortcuts for missions. (Like searching PM 1-1 on the wiki will take you to Promathia Mission 1-1).

JP's on Shiva use AM for ToAU Missions. It's a good idea to use short-cuts, but you might find you have to do some refactoring in the future with new expansions.

Since the JP pages are separate from the NA ones, and Elmer is translating those, you could just use NA abbreviations and let the JPs use theirs.

e.g. if they want to call the new missions AM and we want to call them GM, then the GM pages can be in English, and the AM pages in Japanese (and have the JP version of GM redirect to AM, and the NA version of AM redirect to GM).

uh, yeah, I guess so. But, another part of it, I think people would actually have to start using them.

Re: Introducing new abbreviations for missions

AU was what I see most on hades: AU17, AU35 etc.

GM may work for ours - we should wait to see what people start shouting before we make the shortcuts though.

WG is probably what hades will use (or {Altana}## if we get a translate for it lol)

Re: Introducing new abbreviations for missions

    Mayby UM for Urhgan Missions?

Or make the articles be something like:

    Wings_of_the_Goddess_Mission:_The_Eight_Paths

No real reason to make the page name "AM14". The whole numbering system is player-invented, anyways. Just organize it on the wiki the way it is organized in your mission menu.

e.g. for PMs, they'll be grouped into chapters with bullet points under other headings, and for ZMs, it'll just be one long laundry list.

People will go to the main mission page anyway to find the mission they're on, since half of them won't remember what number it is unless SE actually puts a number there in the mission menu.

When I say shortcuts, I mean redirects.

I think AU would be best for Aht Urhgan actually.

AM is the common convention by both JPs and NAs on Carbuncle, just as a heads up. I haven't heard any other derivation.

Re: Introducing new abbreviations for missions

Personally, I'd go for AM for Treasures of Aht Urhgan Missions, simply if we're going to use GM for Wings of the Goddess Missions (since we can't use WM, since that would be for Windurst).

I've never seen spaces used, what's up with that?

At least GM works for both the NA and JP versions. Wings of the Goddess and God-soldiers of Al-shelf... er, Altana.

Re: Introducing new abbreviations for missions

if the servers really are split down the middle for AM and AU

    we can redirect both...

if a later expansion needs either set of abbreviations we can change the redirects.

(no need for underscores in titles by the by. wiki handles spaces fine )
