    This concerns me.

The "we've established our edge, now lets write really slow songs that entirely confuse our fan base" epidemic that's been spreading like wildfire.

And to be brutally honest, I'm even more so concerned that I fucking love this track. If it were a new band, I'd buy the album without hestitation....it just ISNT what I expect from a beloved group such as this example, Bleeding Through.

I realize that chad (mudvayne), Chino (deftones) and quite possibly Corey (slipknot) all were warned that continuing to perform the songs they had been would result in destroying their vocal chords ....but why then are bands like hatebreed (Jamey) still able to continue without the same situation?

Also, since I have your attention, watch this. To the end. It's worth it for the storyline. Best video I've seen as of late.

Because it makes money. Try to sound like all the other bands. Then again, ever album has at least one song that doesn't fit. Kinda sounds emo-y?

Most popular-y-ish bands will sell out, no matter how much you don't want them to. In the end, it's all about the money.

Just the reality of the genre of music you listen to. I won't go much into my opinion on it, but suffice to say, it should really be expected.

I'm ganna rue the day The Mars Volta sells out... All though you prolly wont be able to tell since it's almost impossible to decipher the freakin' lyrics.

David Draitham(sp?) from disturbed had to have surgery on his vocal chords not too long ago, so that might have something to do with it.

Not that I know anything about those bands, I stopped listening to metal over fifteen years ago (seriously, how many variations of a power chord riff can be made before they all start to sound the same) but people are different. Look at Tom Araya, he's still screaming his freakin' head off, and as far as I know he's not had problems. But other people might not have the same vocal build as he does, and the massive vibrations from screaming all the time probably takes its toll on most people pretty fast.

Most people in metal are untrained, vocal and otherwise. It's probably more likely that the guy you mentioned had some kind of formal training to the extent that he actually knows what he's doing and is making a convincing metal sound without destroying his vocal cords.

Yup, totally possible. You'd think with the strain and amount of air these guys are blowing out of their faces that they'd be a little concerned about damage, but then again they are metal-heads.

Half the point of Deftones has always been his amazing voice (not the screaming part), the rest is the music. The screaming is just a part of the music. Think of it as an extra guitar that's not always playing.

The song in the OP sounds horrible. Is this indicative of all their music?

its' almost identical to the sound of my own band. You can rest assured, we wont be shitting out any "Vermillion Pt. 2"'s on any album we pay our own money to record any time soon.

    Re: This concerns me.

for every band that sells out, there's 3+ bands to take their place that sound just as good

And i wouldn't classify bleeding through as being all that edgey, but i do agree, this is radio rock bullshit and sounds horrible, though no idea how you could like it.
