    Artificial Skill vs. Natural Skill

alright, i can't find this by searching, but i'm betting someone has the research out there already to prove this or not and i'm just too dumb to find it.

just grabbed a bodb's robe last night (woo 170 lot... ><) and i'm going to start stockpiling ingots. problem is, i'm short on 99+ smiths that i know who can turn ores into ingots, but i do have a 95 base friend w/ +3 in items, who can reach 101 with HQ support.

my question is, does this artificial skill boost strictly equate to natural skill for break rates or is it inferior. since i'm already farming vast quantities of painfully scarce raw materials, i want to minimize breaks on this valuable commodity. should i let him turn my ingots for me, especially since he can skill on them, or should i hunt down another crafter who is naturally 99+ or at least closer to it? sorry for the stupid question. ><

It's the same for all purposes. The only exception I can think of is you can gain skill while your natural skill is under the cap.

also, you must be within 5 natural skill of the cap to break on synths. i know it's not relevant to the original question, but it's worth mentioning if someone dredges this question up later.

um, to clarify what you said cause that sounds confusing/incorrect. you need to be within 5 skill in order to gain a skillup on a break, but you need to be within 15 skill in order to attempt it in the first place and result in a break.

As to the original question, item and guild skill is equally good as your natural skill in terms of success and hq, only difference comes in skill ups.

you're absolutely correct. i did phrase that in a way that sounded nothing at all like what i meant. 5 natural for skill on break, you can be a mile out to just break it. ^^ thanks to all who responded. should make this much easier/cheaper if i can just get a friend to do this safely, rather than renting out the services of someone else.
