Wouldn't you still have to purchase the retail version once your 10 day expires, though?

I didn't. I was able to upgrade my account online.

I upgraded online too. Get a trial and go to billing (I think?) and just click "Upgrade account"

i would suggest getting a trial key from a friend so he can get the free month :-p

I believe they stopped doing this a few months ago. But there are sites/services that will allow you to purchase game keys online. Obviously not the most secure of practices but...

Edit: To clarify, I wasn't referring to buying characters, I'm referring to sites that you buy new versions of the game from, and they email you the key to a new account, from which you can move from trial mode to full fledged account.
