PS2 Question

Ok here is the problem: I played FFXI on PS2 and recently my PS2 just burnt out so i went out and bought another PS2 (lol i know). So i put my HDD with all my data saved from my old PS2 into the new one start it up and try to run playonline viewer and all i get is black screen... Anyone have any solutions to this or have this happen to them as well?

When switching your HDD to another PS2 you have to reformat the HDD using the utlity disc first then download and install from the ground up.

Yep, yep, you have to reinstall the whole damn thing. Your hdd fell in love with your now deceased PS2, so you have to erase its memory by reformatting and like I said before, reinstall liek 6 hours worth of updates lol.

fortunately for you with the last expansion a PS2 vanadiel collection disc was finally released, so you'll get all your expansions on one disc, not to mention fewer updates to download I'd imagine

You may not have to fully reformat, but you definitely have to reinstall PlayOnline Viewer, like you did when you first got the HDD. Bootable applications lock to the system that installs them. However, sometime around Aht Urhgan, some HDDs started locking via DNAS, and in that case you would have to fully reformat and reinstall everything. Hope you have a save transfer device to make backups of your save files to your computer or something...
