    /sam and third eye

Is seigan/third eye nerfed in any way subbed? less chance for proc, or a cap on the number of procs?

don't remember ever reading if it is or not, but after seeing my war/sam fail to get more than two procs each third eye on arrapago chariot, I have to wonder :\

No different as far as I can tell.

Be sure to use Third Eye as soon as the mob starts poking at you.

Not really too confident in my wording so here's an example (Seigan is up in both examples, obviously):

Third Eye has been used, it's been up for 15secs or so, and the mob starts focusing it's hate onto you. You're more than likely to only have 1-3 "shadows."

Now, Third Eye has been reserved until the mob focuses hate. You activate Third Eye immediately. You're more than likely to get a full round of "shadows." In this case, I've only "unluckily" gotten 1-2 "shadow" procs this way; it typically provides atleast 4-5 and sometimes even pulls through until the timer has refreshed.

So in most situations where I'm DD rather than duo tanking, pop Seigan >>> switch to WS gear >>> Third Eye >>> WS of choice.

The mob now has hate focused on you and Third Eye is fresh, so more "shadows" are likely to be provided.

EDIT: Oh, btw, Ruke provided me with this info (Copy Rights, etc.).

He kept putting third eye up every time the recast was done, never got more than two absorbs the entire chariot fight =\

I'm gonna chalk it up to really really bad luck, seeing as how out of nearly the entire zone of qutrubs we only got one incus cell tonight also

    Re: /sam and third eye

i've always thought seigan/third eye proc rate varied depending on lvl difference of mob vs player, that was my personal experience. But I've seen screenshots which say otherwise. Now i just believe its pretty much random/luck, regardless of main or sub. Random would include both proc rate and # of "shadows" given no matter how much time is left on TE recast, pretty much just literally, random. Obviously no testing or anything solid, going with this off "feeling" and experience. So take it with a grain of salt.

I've always noticed that you seem very very likely to anticipate attacks within the first 4-5 seconds after anticipating the first one.

i.e. its rare to block 6+ hits in a row, but if I do it well being hundred fisted it seems like I block 5+ with some consistence. Perhaps its just a series of cosmic coincidences but I always assumed from my own experience the block rate was determined by some degrading time scale after the first activation.

Likely I'm just full of it though.

    - The chance that the player will keep the Third Eye effect even after evading will gradually decrease from the time the ability is used

I always WAR/SAM tank chariots, LBC, LAC, whatever. It's largely random, but if you consistently do it right (throw up Third Eye, then WS or whatever to pull it on you immediately) your results are pretty good. Obviously you should have a DEF/VIT set to throw up when you're going to be without Third Eye for 15 seconds, but otherwise you can make it through most chariot fights without being an MP sponge.

Their best bet is to let a MNK/NIN do the majority of tanking and play "safe tank", and just WS + Third Eye off them, no provoking or anything.

from what ive seen sams generally have it last a little more, however, it is completely random, so even then it could be contributed to that without some very extensive testing ;/

    Re: /sam and third eye

*repeats the same things that have been said*

*insert fancy graph with percentage of multiple anticipates on the left axis, and time third eye is active on the bottom axis, and a little line swooping down smoothly, with a slight concave curve, that flattens out to 0%@30secs*

It doesn't seem like it's a totally even decrease, but the first 10 seconds seems like the best.

Sometimes it fails you utterly (cue the Greater Colibri that almost killed me in a meripo the other night, one melee WSed previous mob, other melee gets tickled, I land a big ass Raging Rush, get one anticipate with Berserk and Aggressor up, Crit > Flurry > Crit > Meditate finally kicks in and I WS it again to kill it) and mages biiiiiiiiiitttttttttttch at you.

The JP Rdm even said "Seigan+Third Eye <Do you have it?>" >.> Yeah I do, but it sucks once in a while.

Just go by what was posted, pop it just before you WS or just after you WS, unless you're directly tanking solo.

If you're directly tanking solo, you might just prefer to go /Nin, it's a bit more reliable when straight up face tanking certain mobs. (weirdly, on Colibri, there are times where I'll go fight after fight without getting hit due to S+TE rocking, and the other dude manages to get a flurry that eats all his shadows, then nailed with zerk up)

When Seigan first came out it always gave you a minimum of 2 shadows. Meaning Third Eye under Seigan NEVER wore off after a single hit. Then they adjusted it for ballista, but I think they ninja'd it in that same patch. Ever since then I can throw Seigan+Third Eye up and have it wear off on the first anticipate at like 28 seconds.

Also Ninja'D in the same patch: Counter did not take Eyes, and always prolonged the effect, it doesn't anymore, and that made me very sad.

    Would say it's pretty random.
