has anyone tested or does anyone know for a fact that taming a mob before you try to charm it increases the chances of success?
and if so does anyone know by how much it helps?

The game's help text actually says "Makes target docile and more susceptible to charm."
I think its safe to say it does indeed increase Charm rate.
it's hard to trust any descriptions of ingame text, i figure i'd ask in the best place for the best answer.
thanks
The only time you should be using Tame is when you fail anyways, not worth it to use on a mob before you even try.
I'd assume a test with Gauge -> Tame -> Gauge would be the best way to see though.
I seem to remember seeing a test using Gauge showing that Tame increased chance to charm. It's probably buried in alla forums somewhere. If I remember tomorrow I'll run my own test on a slime or something.
i forget the level of tame (my bst is 67) but assuming its <40 id use tame before trying to charm then 2hr a slime in phomiuna aqueductsOriginally Posted by Mosh
Replying to my post to say I performed the test tonight on an EP Mousse in Garlaige (S). Turns out that Tame didn't change the Gauge result at all, but on the other hand neither did my Apollo's Staff. So file this one under inconclusive I guess.Originally Posted by Sargas
For reference, here are my numbers (note that +25CHR brings you from 'might' to 'should' be able to charm):
72+7 CHR - difficult to charm
72+8 CHR - might be able to charm
72+32 CHR - might be able to charm
72+33 CHR - should be able to charm
72+7 CHR, Apollo's equipped - difficult to charm
72+7 CHR, Tame used - difficult to charm
yea i tried testing it myself on puktraps in caedarva and it didn't change their gauge at all either.
see, this is why i ask these things. now to find out what exactly does it do... :bagel:
