ATI Catalyst 8.1 Drivers released

[Reality]

A new set of Catalyst drivers are available for owners of ATI video cards. Get the ones you need at the following locations:

Windows XP Professional/Home
Windows XP 64-bit edition
Windows XP Media Center Edition
Vista (32-bit)
Vista (64-bit)

Wow, I love these drivers. The old ones wouldnt support my new monitors native res (1440x900) and now it works, and the catalyst 3D options make FFXI look better too, without any real performance loss.

loljpg, looks better in person ofcourse. Amazing how some newer drivers can make an 3 year old $80 card run better.

I downloaded the drivers after you said it did stuff for FFXI, I didn't get any improvement for mine.

Perhaps you could close your eyes while playing and imagine it looks better.

Ultimately the only thing you can really do to make FFXI look better is to force AA and up the resolution... Stupid PS2

Ya I was skeptical, and now after downloading, my instincts were right

Maybe just for making older cards not suck so much. I was able to turn up the 3D settings more and BG res without any extra lag or loss of framerate.
