Was this game ever ported to work with Windows 98+?
I've been dying to play this game for years but I'm not gonna install Windows 95 or 3.1 onto a computer just to do it lol. SimCity 3000/4000 just doesn't do it for me Q_Q

there is a online version of the original that i would play every once in a while, but thats not 2000.
found it: http://simcity.ea.com/play/simcity_classic.php
from wiki:
There were two Windows releases of SimCity 2000. The first release was a 16bit release for Windows 3.x and following the release of Windows 95 a 32bit version was released allowing the user to save cities in the long file name format. The 32bit realease will work on later versions of Windows including Windows Vista but not on the 64bit versions of Windows XP or Windows Vista as the installer is 16bit.
They made a DOS version, you can dl that and get DosBox to run it. I'm pretty sure if you found the windows version, you'll be able to find a way to get it to work under vista.
they have a demo version on cnet that works under whatever version of windows you are running, its only 30 minutes though. Don't know if you can crack it but its worth a look. If not, cracked full version is out there somewhere, i'm sure.

I could've swore I ran this with 0 problems on Windows 2k.
Been a while, so I may be wrong, but yeah, I'm pretty sure I ran it on at least Windows 98, probably 2k.
Works fine on Vista (x32) and XP SP2 for me
yea I bought a copy from the bargain bin at walmart a few years ago and played it on xp.Originally Posted by MisterBob
I own the SimCity 2000 Special Edition. I bought it for my Windows 3.1 machine when I was like...in 5th grade haha. It doesn't work on anything above Windows 95. It's probley the 16bit version. I'll see if I can find the 32bit version.
That disc should have the DOS version as well, just go grab DOSBox >.>Originally Posted by Izzy
