What purpose do they serve though, is it like auto translate-ish outside of FFXI using IME?

It adds FFXI related terms for the japanese. Like if you type ???, you get Maat. One of the dictionaries adds a bunch of kaomoji too.

how do u install them? they come in .dic format :/

You install/remove they from the regions tab option in xp. Install instructions are also on the site in japanese.

Is this another case of Vista sucking ass? Because every time I try to load those dictionary files it says that the file is not a MS IME custom dictionary or that the file format is unrecognized or some shit. I've tried every file on that page to no avail.
