Aerial Collision

Can anyone confirm if the Phuabo move Aerial Collision is magical or physical. Last JoL i for some reason assumed it was physical and slammed on my physical dmg reduction set. It hit my rdm with 700 per collision with a 37% physical dmg cut, leading me to believe its a magic move. Another big tippoff i guess would be the wiping of shadows without reduction. I guess im pretty sure its magic, but would like some confirmation, im all out of JoLs to experiment on. Being triple banged in the face is the only thing keeping me from Solo-tanking JoL.

Get 2 NINs to evasion tank 2 of the Phuabo summons after regen dies.
Only will summon one at a time that way and you won't die from a single Aerial Collision.

We only ever do JoL with like 18 max. 2 Nins just for summons isnt really in the budget. If i cant make this work we'll prolly fall back to Aegis-pld's again. Not that it really matters, i just wanna be able to reliably solotank it, for my own enjoyment.

I believe its physical based since, iirc, Sentinel seems to greatly reduce the damage done by it. I usually just hit Sentinel if it summons after doing Astral Flow.

If its physical im pretty stuck. Even if i got a D.ring and maxed physical it wouldnt do much difference, since it hit me for 700 a collision with 37% physical reduction. Even with stoneskin i'd still need about 1500+ hp to survive. :/ And im not getting a D.ring anytime soon lol.

No way you will possibly be able to eat 3 simultaneous Aerial Collisions.

I haven't been in sea in awhile, but isn't it 3 hits physical damage? I seem to remember it being blinkable, but only with 3+ shadows, having 1 or 2 shadows seems to reduce damage though. Dunno, maybe it's 4 hits. Or maybe I am totally wrong and don't remember at all.

EDIT: JoL doesn't even melee you if you if you stand in the right spot does he? Maybe if you went with earth staff and -dmg%, and subbed NIN, you could throw up Ni when you see the astral flow, and save some of the damage. Assuming it's physical, of course.

He does, occasionally when our melees hit the hate cap and do a WS pulling hate, they'll get hit for a 1300+ attack.

Like i said, i tried with the physical reduction. 37% damage cut, shadows and stoneskin rendered me with 350+700+700 dmg. (The first one reduced by stoneskin). Wich lead me to believe/hoping that its magic dmg. Im having trouble believing that our PLD's damage reduction for physical is THAT much higher then mine, even if they are Aegis/dring/hauteclaire paladins and so on and so forth. (Dont even know if aegis matters in this case, does shield procc on mob ws to?)

Guess i have to investigate for myself. :/

Shield can most definitely proc on mob weaponskills.
Aegis obviously will cut the damage no matter if it's physical or magic since it does have magic damage reduction right on it, then the shield blocks, etc etc.

I personally don't know if Aerial Collision is physical or magical, I always assumed physical just because of the way it looks.

Sorry, should have been more clear.
What I meant was if you are standing at the edge of the hood of Jailer of Love he won't attempt to get closer so he can melee you, but if you stand close enough to the center part of him then he will melee like normal.

Oh I knew what you meant, I was just making a joke, but on top of being a not very funny joke, I later realized it wasn't even a good one since the premise behind it was wrong (or wrong on my view anyway). So maybe just pretend like that post never happened.
