    Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Just a few preliminary observations from killing some Hippogryphs in Grauberg last night.

First off, it seems like when you first Call Wyvern, they are at the same level as they were before the update. So nothing to worry about there.

It seems like one of the attributes that increases as you gain XP is your Wyvern's max HP, which means that Healing Breath goes up in strength \o_o/

I'm not sure if it caps, but I presume it will eventually.

Normally with Wyrm Armet and AF+1 legs, Healing Breath will hit for about 375 HP. After getting approximately 1k XP, with the Wyrm Armet and AF+1 legs Oboro was hitting my friend and I with ~450 HP Healing Breaths before an unfortunate Fantod + Double Attack killed me Q_Q

I'll have to do some soloing on some tougher mobs later to figure out where the cap is.

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

While breath numbers have gone up, it's the potency, not the wyvern's HP that increases.

I can pretty much confirm that just by referencing HP after taking off/putting back on Homam Gambieras, which puts the wyvern at 95%, even when I was getting 440-450 on healing breaths.

Anyway, it seems, in regards to just breath potency, that it stops rising somewhere around 1200-1500XP, unless there's some sort of tiers to break to further increase it.

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Well, it seemed like the AF+1 legs were increasing his HP by a smaller amount than usual, however now that I'm thinking about it, it's +15% HP so the bar should still have the same gap between current HP and max regardless of what the max is.

I always assumed that the potency was only related to the wyvern's max HP though. I guess there's something else going on.

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Just for perspective, for the wyvern to have jumped 75-100ish HP in its breath attacks, it'd need 250-300 of HP gear stacked on to do so.

I haven't done anything extensive, other than accidentally having to solo lobison, but I'm assuming one of two things: either the boost is a static +x or there's something in the modifier being increased by x (probably 15% of exp gained).

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Alright, after playing around with Om'Hpemde for about 60-70min:

The boost to healing breath seems to be a solid 96-102 points. Not sure why it fluctuates, but a natural 409 hb (brais+1, homam feet, chanoix's gorget) became either a 505-511 healing breath.

The amount of exp it took was very short. I capped out within a chain 2, then chain 4 (2 dc oms broke chain, so somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500-1750xp).

I didn't see any bonus to anything physical-related from the wyvern. Perhaps wyvern type affects this? I'll find out when I get a chance to merit, today.

Wyvern TP increases HB potency. Could the fluctuations have been caused by this you think?

It wasn't. When TP was taking effect, I was seeing returns near 520-540 HP.

Plus I did 9-10 breaths post-spirit link, unengaged, making sure they were @ 0% TP, which were yielding the same 505-511 range.

Does zoning wipe the buff? I'd assume as much but it'd be interesting to know.

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Somewhere between 1500-2000 xp my healing breaths were doing 489 with just using Wyrm head and af+1 legs. It's damage jumped from about 30-40 a hit to an average of 50ish.
I soloed about 2k more xp on sea puks, and saw no change then had to get the new polearm crafted.

So my thought are this is really cool for those who like to solo, for /melee it doesn't seem like it would make that big of a difference. But what I hope for is a tier system for this new stuff, although I say a steady increase after the first kill until about 1.5-2k xp into the test.
    Pet damage, Healing Breath
    XP after the kill

    30-40 dmg 392 HB
    230 xp

    37-48 410 HB
    276 xp

    40-50 429 HB
    287 xp

    Few fights inbetween

    40-50(more 45+) 447 HB
    230 xp

    few fights inbetween

    37-56 489 HB
    230 xp(About 2k xp total)

after about 2k xp I saw no improvements for another 2k then stoped.

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

I mentioned in a different thread about the potency increase, but for Attack Style wyverns. With Homam Boots as the only HP increase, I was observing 240 breaths unresisted (and quite consistent mind you) when at full HP.

After 24k XP, there was no Tier change. Always was a consistent potency upgrade. I didn't notice any change in physical behavior such as Attack or Accuracy, but next time I will be sure to test.

After equipping Drn. Brais +1 and Wyrm Armet for a WS, I got an 1/8th resist twice on breath for 37 damage, therefore making the cap 296 damage.

    Let's see:
    A 75 DRG's Wyvern has 991/991 HP.
    +Brais= +15%= 1,139
    Formula for breath= Current HP*0.182
    Wyrm Armet = Current HP*0.212

Thus your base breath without the enhancment would have been 241. THat's roughly a +22% bonus in potency, which is more than you could have gotten even with +300 Wyvern HP. Jesus.

I have a full wyvern HP set and my current base is 275 I can't wait to test it when i get my xbox back (R.R.O.D)

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

I like how one minute SE talks about not wanting to increase a wyverns HP in fear of making DRG too strong at soloing....and then the next minute they turn right around and give wyverns the effect of higher HP...

Oh well, I guess its easier than putting some thought into it and doing something creative.

Well, giving them more hp would allow them to possibly survive AOEs, and we can't have that now can we?

    Re: Wyvern Adjustment Observations

Wyvern's can already survive AoEs just as easily as a taru can!

Only reason they die so EASILY is because they can't be targetting for party-effect spells (aka Shellra/Protectra/CURAGA). Giving Dragoons an Ability to heal wyverns every 5 minutes just isn't enough. Sure they can Empathy over a Shellra/Protectra, but that's only for level 75s. Be nice if lower level dragoons could have an alternative to healing their Wyvern (Even an HP drain ability for Wyverns).

    At least sambas work

Don't have to be a boner about it, I have the same question and I haven't leveled and don't plan to level DRG so I skipped that portion of the update notes. In the time it took for you to answer you could have just given an answer?

Yes zoning wipes the buff so its completely useless on anything you may actually want an improvement for, ie: endgame content.

A wyvern’s attributes will now increase in correspondence to the amount of experience
gained from the moment the wyvern is summoned.
*This increase will not be affected by experience gained from Campaign, Besieged, or items.
**A wyvern’s attributes will be reset to their original values when the wyvern is KO’d,
    dismissed, or changes areas.

What do you mean? Zoning from killing Darters, etc? Can't use it for Salvage/Assaults(?)/Dynamis/Besieged/Campaign(on a different note, but would experience earned before participating carry over?)/Limbus.

Only other place I can see it not be worthwhile is when farming Sky in different zones (depending on how long you are there. A lot of NMs require you to kill PH's etc). Then there's Sea. Same as Sky, and just as annoying.

So, Endgame was already limited for the most part, but zones where you COULD get Exp are still worthwhile, just depends on how many times you have to zone. When it comes to HNMs, better beg your LS to kill Darters, and kill those antlions before you engage tiamat!

Or just do it yourself. I've soloed the entire pit of darters plenty of times in the past (it was my main source of merits for a good week a couple of months ago). You just need to get a couple of good pulls from the ledge before you drop down into the pit. Once you kill 2-3 from the ledge, killing the other 3-4 in the pit should be no problem, and keeping the respawns dead thereafter will be .

Before Nid popped today, I was able to "power up" my wyvern to the point where HBs were doing close to 500. That actually came in handy as we were a bit short on healing power, and I was helping cure in the tank PT until Hurricane Wings eventually took out my wyvern.
