    fSTR and caps and maths

    Ok i suck at the maths and i wanna know how much str until a Wrank weapon 3 is capped. anyone care to help? I'll give you candy ;3

    was looking for quite some times for this, but another stupid question, what is that weapon ranking you talking about ?

    Number you get by dividing your weapon base damage rating with 9, then chop all the decimals*

    *not applicable for H2H

    so let's say my base dmg is 450 (for a usual sam for example)

    will make : 450/9 = 50

    so for cap str on a hagun sam you would need : (14+ "50x2") x2
    Which would mean you need 228 str to cap Str with Hagun.

    Did I got it right or is there something I miss XD ?

    The damage it is talking about is the DMG on the weapon, not your Attack or anything.

    So for Hagun at 75DMG, your weapon rank is;

    75/9 = 8.333333....
    Therefore your weapon rank for Hagun is 8.

    Upper cap value of dSTR = (14 + 8 * 2) *2
    = (14 + 16) * 2
    = 30 * 2
    = 60.

    That looks awfully low but remember that 1 STR does not equal 1 fSTR. This basically occurs when your STR is 60 above the monster's VIT.

    To make it seem a little more understandable.

    Say you're fighting a mob with 80 Vit.

    You need 140 Str total to cap fStr out (say, 80+60, not totally unreasonable for an elf sam with tricked gear) with a Hagun, etc.

    Wait, I thought it was 14+wRankx2 meaning 14+wRank (22) x2 (44) x2 (88)?

    Did I read that funny? You're supposed to do the wRank x2 first, then add 14? That would make some fStr caps seem kinda low.

    Liiiike, Blau, wRank 3x2 for 6+14 for 20x2 for 40, meaning 120 Str against a target with 80 Vit would cap it out?

    (keep in mind, my brain does weird things with numbers sometimes, you see 14+8, I see Cake+Pie)

    It's worse, actually. The Blau/Maneater/Perdu line of weapons have their weapon rank calculated based on their normal non-latent damage rating for the purposes of the fSTR calculation--at least this was the case in 2006... if this has changed for some reason, please feel free to correct me.

    So main-handing a Blau, your fSTR is already capped when your STR is 36 over the mob's VIT. This is part of the reason why I used to use a Harpe/Blau setup for maximum damage in meripo (again, in 2006).

    Anyone care to go over h2h using destroyers (with capped h2h merits if that means anything). General consensus for mnk is that str is pretty lol so would be pretty interesting to see the math and reasoning behind it.

    Yeah, you always multiply before addition. It's 14 + (the weapon rank x 2).

    Sadly I'm not so familiar with the H2H formula :X

    Even Amano only get 88 base damage

    The amount of required to cap is small/high depending on your job / the mob you're fighting.
    If you're a WAR with axe, it's very easy to cap it (probably even GAxe) on merit mob.
    If you're SAM, you almost always hit cap on merit PT mob.

    for RNG.. not so easy.

    dSTR = (14 + 2 * 2) * 2 = (14+4)*2 = 18*2 = 36

    Colibri have what, 80 VIT? So a Destroyer MNK's fSTR would cap at 116 STR.

    The formula is literally the second post in this thread, btw. Plug in numbers, do simple arithmetic, voila, do-it-yourself math!

    Then why does everyone use 80 as the baseline? Regardless, in that case, Destroyers cap out at 103 STR.

    hmmm not rly sure i understand then. My str isn't anywhere near that and both from personal experience and many other monks, str gear just seems not even worth stacking.

    the deal is you aren't noticing small amounts of str versus small amounts of attack and the whole "str is garbage" mantra comes from literally years of it being regurgitated versus factual/observational basis. You won't be able to tell a lick of difference swapping out that Pln. Hat for an Usu somen.

    Gah I got it now lol, I was kinda ??? But I got it now lol, and sorry for my bad calculation yesterday lol guess I wasnt really awake since I took delay instead of Dmg <.<

    But thx for all the later info, I got it now.
