Does moonphase influence skillup-rate of synths?

Somehow I couldn't find an answer regarding that question yet.
So does the moonphase or the day of the synth somehow influence how often skillups occur?

Its a shame that i'm already a high lvl crafter (98 LC) and never thought about the moonphase skillup thing.
But yesterday I did 20 synths for Panther Masks and got 1 .1 skillup which sucks money balls cause all the hides and skins take so much inventory space that I can only do 8 crafts at once.

Short answer is that there is no PROVEN link.
Long answer is that while there isn't a proven link using math, look at fishing. Fishing is proven to have higher success / skill ups during full / null moons. By the same token, how much stuff revolves around the moon phase in game? So yes, there may be a link however small.

I used to craft during FM and NM but now I disregard the moon phase. I have seen the same HQ rate and skill up rate regardless of what moon phase I craft on now. So eventhough I may have an affect on it, its not substantial (if it exist at all).

Moonphase crafting is the closest thing FFXI has to religion. What one person sees as a miracle another person sees as a statistical anomaly, and since there are hardcore believers on both sides who would dismiss any suggestion that opposes their preconceived view, the real answer is essentially unknowable by the general community. Probably was smart to ask it here if not because you'd get flamed, but because even if you hadn't, asking in the BG crafting forums would be as practical as asking a group of Athiests if there is a God.

When it comes to fishing, I have zero idea about ingame fishing, but IRL, the position of the moon relative to the earth DOES matter as it affects the general sea body to an extent.

True story. All my Cursed -1 gear (6 pieces total) was crafted on Lightsday 100% Full Moon. So maybe not skill ups but YES to HQs

Granted I ONLY got them crafted on Lightsday 100% Full Moon back when people thought it was true and I wanted to piss off the forum god they call Sath.

The human animal doesn't like things to be random. We want X to have an effect on Y, because once we "know" that one thing causes another, we can feel more safe and secure -- that we have power and control over the uncontrollable. Direction faced while synthing, praying to god, not stepping on a crack to save your mother's back, it's all the same.

Question: Has anyone bothered to do any tests on the matter? While tests may not be able to isolate all resonable variables, it is not difficult to isolate most of them, at least for moon phase. With enough samples and some basic statistics you can make the assumption that there is some association between the two.
