Login trouble

just installed the game at a friends house and i can login fine but as soon as i hit the last play button and the screen changes, instead of going on to the next page it goes back to the checking for mail page. anyone have this issue before or could help me out?

Sounds like a really stupid stretch, but if you are using a game pad, did you set the confirm button to cancel by accident? Really the only thing I can think of.
