Chances of a new event?

Perhaps I'm just bored at work but what do you think the chances are they'll add another large scale event to the game?

I realise that all the way through you get access to an area, to farm for better gear and that makes getting more gear easier. Just feels like Nyzul weapons, more merits, new jobs, might be leading us somewhere.

I'm quite prepared to be wrong. Do you think there is room for another Sea/Sky/Dynamis in this game?

Salvage/Nyzul Isle are excellent. Assault was fine for a while but I've been done with gear from there for a while and should really get around to finishing up Captain Rank. Campaign seems kinda meh. Useful, necessary but still lacking something. Einherjar looks like it will now be popular. Is there room for something else?

So far every zone that's to be out in the expansion has came on the installation CD of the game, this was true for all expansions so far (CoP even had dyna zones x 3 on install). Mobs on the other hand weren't, they had to be downloaded via update.

So unless they change something with this expansion by allowing us to download zones, I don't see an area to stick in or unless it's in the locked areas. But I'd love a new dynamis personally >_> CoP style but with real drop rate and real coin count

I am pretty much in line with you on this thinking, but these are the exceptions I have come up with to justify some hope.

1. There is another zone, the Walk of Echos, it just has no map. I always just got the impression that it was the obvious zone for end-game activities/events. There is precedence for end-game areas with no map with Einherjar, Dynamis and Limbus. And it took a long time for people to find the Einherjar areas in the dats.

2. There are many unused Assault style areas in the expansion, could just be used for Campaign Ops/Missions, but we don't know yet.

3. There is no reason that Castle Z couldn't be the end-game area. Hell, in the past the mother fucking Shadow Lord lived there. Sky/Sea like area where you run around getting spawn items then trade it to the Throne Room to get to fight the bad ass himself? Can't see a reason why that wouldn't work.

4. Finally, the catch-all. Just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. Maybe SE is catching on that we check the dats and doesn't want to give everything away before they want? Maybe they will just offer the zones in an update? The game has gone to direct-to-drive now, so the need for expansion disks is irrelevant, so its almost definitely not a data transfer issue.

I agree with wafik in that new Dynamis areas would be awesome. I don't think they'll add it though. What would be nice is a new event where Dynamis currency can drop... this was the currency used during this time period right? So it's not completely out in terms of story. Relic Weapons have been out long enough that they need to be easier to get (not easy, just a little more available), I think. I'm not having a problem with my Mandau but I know many people who can barely fathom the idea.

2 hour dynamis, 1 guaranteed 100 currency off boss, and doubled currency/AF rates please~!


As for a new event, I don't think SE will add one anytime soon. The expansion's been pretty rotten so far, if they introduced a great new event it would be too wild.

I thought there was a Tour-the-world post somewhere here way back when where Taj or someone found a bunch of double-light weather zones that were either Sea or Limbus at the CoP release.

I just remember a lot people getting excited for the "anti-dynamis" or whatever we all thought it was at the time.

They were, they were called Lower Promyvion (Apollyon) and Ou'hpat Obelisk (Temenos) if I remember correctly.

They were, they were called Lower Promyvion (Apollyon) and Ou'hpat Obelisk (Temenos) if I remember correctly.

Well, they were there and we knew about the zones but we hadn't seen the areas yet, only the antechambers for getting into the runs. This is just from my foggy recollection of that era. I believe that the antechamber for Ou'hpat was pos hacked into, and I think we just knew about Lower Promyvion from the names in dat files, but I don't know if anyone had entered those zones.

Maybe we'll have some epic fights in the locked [S] zones then? Storming Castle Zvahl would be fun :D

The zone Cait Sith is in when you first meet him (Walk of Echoes? The one with Atomos) definitely looks like an end-game area. So if I were to make a guess, I'd say that will be it. Besides, its already in the game.

Although I guess it could be a "central" zone combining all of the other gates, allowing you to enter/exit anywhere.

There is the 3 area that have many unused battlefield. Most of the zone of unused battlefield as well, that are included in the map. There might not be larges scale event, but there could still be a few rewarding system or endgame area.

Yeah, I totally forgot about the "Inside Atomos" zone that we saw in pre-release screenshots. But Castle Zvahl [S] and Xarcabard should be pretty epic endgame wise (At least I hope so). Although I'm kinda not counting on an event similar to Dynamis/Einherjar/Limbus, I'm just hoping for new endgame opportunities really.

Not sure there'll be another event for the next update but combine the suggestions made from previous posters + the fact that we have shitload of AN from ops and campaigns suggests there's going to be some zones to farms for better equipments.
For example : assault/ops type events in beaucedine, xarc or SL castle to kill a beastman general, a demon, rescue someone, hold a fort for some time, etc.

I'm betting on echos. How big is it exactly? Comparable to one of the Limbus zones?

It's comprised of lots of separated islands similar to Riverne, so actual player area is hard to say. The entire zone is damn big though. I had wondered at one point if northlands zones could also be specifically for a new event. That seems unlikely though, just because they already appear on the campaign map, and there's NPC dialogue for offering to warp players there from their city. So yeah, Echos ftw. Plus it's visually dripping with color and style like most end-game zones.

Is there enough room within a players available time for a new event? I don't know but I'd guess even hardcore players will have to prioritize what is and isn't worth doing soon. Maybe even, *gasp*, not repeating events they long ago finished acquiring items from. More choice is always good. I can only speak for myself but I have no interest in events that are a chore to me (dynamis, sea, hnm). So at least in my case that leaves me wide open for another event. It would probably also further pull away from linkshells stipulating that players must attend x, y, and z in order to be a member.

Events doable with 8-12 ppl which actually challenge player's skill and teamwork.

Endgame LS on Midgardsormr that use bot are swarmed with dalmatica and Ebody, I have yet to see any of them wearing salvage gear.
