question for WWers

So I'm working on saving up money for morrigan body (my server will be around 8-10 mil for mats.

I've been doing various things to gather gil up and have gotten to about 2 mil so far.

I also have a WW mule that's 73 + 1

I've basically been having my mule do low lvl +1 and making bolts to keep building up, while I do other farming on my main n' such.

Now I'm starting to think though that maybe I should take the 2 mil I've earned and try to get ww as close to 100 as possible, and use that to craft the money back and possibly earn faster money though ww then I have been.

So I guess I have a few questions.


How far do you think 2 mil will get me from 73? And do you think that'd be significant enough to be able to earn the money back in a semi-timely manner.

How high do you need to be to HQ ele staves for profit usually?


I will still plan on doing other things outside of Crafting, since moeny making in crafting is slower than it used to be. I do have plenty of time though since I've only gotten the 35 piece for body so far, but I want to be ask close to the 8ish mil I need for the body by the time I get the other two pieces.


Any thoughts? Or suggestions?

Even at 100+3, woodworking is extremely hit-or-miss in terms of making profit. 2mil wont put you into a range that will make you any sort of income, and unless your Smithing sub is already leveled, you have to level that as well.

Staves cant be crafted for profit until 100+3, at all. Even then unless you get lucky youll lose money. You can make consumables for money, but getting together the mats for large batches is tiring, and the crafting itself even moreso, for what i would consider very little profit.

My advice is to completely ignore WW until youre ready to dump as much money as is needed to get it to 100. Even then, Cursed synths are random, with it generally leading to losses. Save that 2mil, keep farming, and youll eventually have enough for your body, but WW isnt the way to get that.

If you took the best route and were patient, you could probably get to 95 whilst making a profit. Getting from 95-100 has always sucked for woodworking and would eat up of most of your gil.

If you had your BC sub done you could probably make decent money on Kabura arrows 82-91, or get high enough to t3 shihei (which varies in its money spinning properties on my server). Other than that, if you're turning a steady profit, stick to what you;re doing.

95-99 not bad, Lancewood logs just kinda rare. Have no idea honestly wth it cost just threw gil at it til I hit 99. Now 99-100 different story Adaman ingot wut?

I did kaburas to 91, then 8 sided poles to 94, then anglicas and lancewoods to 99. (I have a lot of those left over!) But that was 3 years ago and new recipes might make it easier.


99 to 100 can be done "cheaper" by using breaks if you have smith leveled. Thats what I did (took smith to 45 iirc, but it was already 31 for the poles) then made 99 to 100 on 18 synths...all breaks...losing only 4 ingots.

I still agree that taking WW to 100 is not a good plan in your particular case.

Hmm I think I'll try what you said Vodou I am sitting @38.3 smithing atm and 99WW, have a few pieces of gear I want to buy before dropping cash into WW, hope I get same results.

I did Mythic Poles > Mythic Harps > Laqueur Tree logs > Eight Sided Poles > Laquer tree Sap > Some fancy lv75 Harp > Lancewood lumber

Main problem here is, it takes money to make money, once you get WW higher with your 2m you hit a wall and have to farm it all again :/

Can do Thalasocrat synths (go chop your own logs).

Log should be 100, the synth itself should be 106 WW/60 GS/60 S. Don't attempt it without adv. support and +3 gear.

Either one should be a profit.

My sub crafts are lame basically because the only thing they're good for is T0ing an expensive ass Polearm that I don't want to even attempt or some misc crafts that really won't justify lvling them solely for making them, i.e. Shigeto bow +1 that sells for 300k on my server RARELY and I'd have to make tons of them to even cover the costs of lvling the subs just for them.

All I see needed for 100WW is LC sub to the point you can make Cursed Togis -1. The other good items are Staves and Cursed shura that don't have sub crafts, of course that's just my opinion and what I am looking to use my WW for, I am sure others would want to make some T0 High lvl bows/crossbows/polearms for the big gil but it's too costly for me considering I prob won't get the return I put into it in the first place, would rather lvl it on another char as a main craft.

I had way worse luck than you. I tried breaksynthing as well.

8 ingots used.
10 total synths gotten.
8 ingots lost.
0 skillups.
2 /wrists.

At that point I just gave up and figured the people who said they actually skilled this way were pulling my leg.

99.0 -> 99.8 off 3 ingots, roughly 12 synths, was looking amazing.

99.8 -> 99.9 off 10 ingots, 18 synths.

99.9 -> 100 off 5 ingots, 8 synths

1mil roughly, i wept at the last 2 .1s

Not lying...but look with me at what you just have done. You already said you are very unlucky and yet, you have gotten 1/2 of the way to 100 with just 8 ingots. 8 synths to get 1/2 the way from 99 to 100 is great.

Since the ingots are by far the largest cost in the synth, you've gotten basically 5 x .1 skillups in 8 synths. I really think that is a huge success. Had smithing being at level 60 for example, you would have already used up about 16 or 17 ingots to create a basically worthless synth. And you'd have another bunch to go.

Terrestrial took 18 ingots to complete 10 skillups. 18 synths to complete 99 to 100 is also great. But had he done successful synths, he would have used 36-38.

Was I luckier? Yes. Perhaps it was just luck or maybe the ingots have been given a higher fail rate than before. However, its still better in this particular circumstances to break the synths then to successfully make them.

Also feeling pissy in general about HQing that stupid GP Harp today and wasting a T0 when I can't make my Cursed Kabuto -1 and sitting on no gil because I have an inventory full of Cursed Kabutos, right now I just wanna vent about crafting and people raising price of dlogs and undercutting on kabutos!!! ARGHHHH

D logs went from 350k to 450k and Kabutos went from 500k to 340k orz, all because of asshole sky LS trying to make more gil to stuff their sacs pockets with and some guy named Chanta undercutting Kabutos.
