    Battlefield: BC - Discussion

Normally I'm weary about EA products, after Command & Conquer 3, and as it turns out, this game makes me sweat.

Before I point out Pros/Cons, I'll say this much. On launch day there was frequent disconnects, and now, day 2 after launch I can't even get into a game. All I get is:

    "Joining Game" (30 seconds)
"Connection Problem: Connection to the game has been lost. Please check your network connections and try again."
"Cannot Join: The game appears to be unavaliable, please try again."

So yeah, EA apparently hosts the servers, so don't expect online play.

Now then, as for Multiplayer itself, in order to unlock new guns you need to level. each level gets you a point, and you can spend it on an item. EA, in their infinite wisdom, decided to horde to best guns aside and in order to get them, you need to jump through hoops. http://badcompany.ea.com/page/dynpid/8616/

The only gripe with online (or therefore lack of), is:

*There's only one mode of play at the moment
    *All classes are over powered

And by over powered, I mean in the sense that it doesn't matter which class you are, you can drop everything, be it tanks, choppers, and entire teams. Support class is ridiculous as they can just mow your team down as you spawn, Sniper's starter weapon can either 1 shot or leave you with 10% or less health (AWP pretty much), to name a few.

Now, if the game was just at this it'd say it was shit, but it's got some charm.

a destroyable enviornment makes it more realistic, nothing like firing a tank through a house 2 snipers are hiding in. Story mode's pretty long, and the screen grab feature's nice. My favorite feature is, knifing players online gets you their gamertag (dog tags) that's in a menu, and starts a collection (used for Achievements).

Soooo you complain that you can get unrealistically 1 shotted by a SNIPER RIFLE but enjoy the realism of blowing a hole in the wall...lol anyway i thought the demo was fun.

Tanks can't blow holes in walls, nor explosions of any matter?

Anyways, game's getting more enjoyable because I found plenty of glitches to abuse as a sniper, including 'sky surfing' and sniping from out of bounds.

Any plans for this game coming to PC? I was excited when I heard it was completely free, but then I stopped caring when I heard it wasn't on PC.

wut? It's not free. You must be confusing it with Battlefield: Heroes.

I don't know where to start. But yes, explosives do destroy walls, and if you're getting hit by a fucking bullet traveling from any of those rifles, your ass is dead unless they're a horrible shot. And now the game is fun because you can abuse the glitches? Either this is going to be a terrible woosh, or you're just plain stupid.

The demo was enough for me to keep away from it.

It's an okay game. Really overshadowed by COD4 though, and destructible enviornments do nothing to draw people away, especially when the game seems taylor made for 4 player co-op (the whole campaign is done with 3 NPCs with you..) yet doesn't put it in.

How wide-open are the maps exactly?

When I hear destructible buildings I'm thinking they're either very simple with an on/off switch for it with a nice kaboom animation, or something more complex, meaning there are less of them in a map due to bandwidth overhead/performance restrictions.

Currently downloading the 1.4gb demo on my PS3, guess I'll see soon for myself at any rate.
(I quite enjoyed BF2 on my PC when I actually found a pub server that wasn't full of retards who were farming ranks)

The destructible environment is piece by piece, so if you only clip a building, you only take part of it away.

its definatly a fun game but like gears of war was ruined by lag (for me) it seems this could be the same. Sucks being a sniper and missing a open target even when you lead the shot

Sorry for the bump, but I was wondering how the multiplayer is for PS3 specifically. Is there a lobby of any sort? Or is it set up exactly like the demo, where you either pick a custom match with friends or quick join a game. One major problem I had with the demo was there would constantly be TKing for the Artillery cannon, but with no way at all to kick the offenders. The other major problem I had with there being no lobby as well, was that I would constantly be put into games with only a couple of players, taking multiple tries until I got into a decently populated game. Thanks.
