Duo Limbus

Currently dont have a shell i run limbus with, and a friend and i are looking to make some coins from limbus for coins & af+1 synth mats, we are looking for any zones that its possible to Duo as RDM & NIN, solo zones would also be appreciated.

Lyramion posted some awesome NIN Limbus solo guides over on the KI forums. Go check those out, lots of good tips and pointers. I'm sure with a RDM to duo with makes the run that much more smoother.

I had friends who did rdm+nin and brd+nin duo's all the time.

you can easily do the first floor or two of most zones - go for floors with easy chests (fixed mob or always up) and/or mobs that always drop coins.

the KI guides are very helpful and adding a healer or buffer to a ninja will almost always improve survivability and kill speed vs. solo.

RDM/WHM and NIN/WAR with proper gear can duo most of apollyon NW for 30+ coins, though a pimped RDM can apparently solo all the way up to/including final boss. For RDM + NIN, kill ghosts on first floor until portal pops, then kill the boss and port up. Floor 2, same thing.. no DoTs and sleep boss if petribreath goes off. Floor 3, kill until portal opens ignore boss. Floor 4, kill all plain mobs ignore boss(10 guaranteed coins from the 5 wyverns). Floor 5, kill the 3 plain behemoths ignore boss(15 guaranteed from the 3 behemoths). You'll get 2 each from the armoury crates for first bosses and likely some random drops off of mobs on first few floors. The red mage should nuke as much as possible without pulling hate, time is critical.

Follow up question for AF+1 items

From what I can see, there are a couple of Apollyon zones that conveniently drop both RDM & NIN in chests in the beginning of a run, especially SE zone. (never mind the fact that nin has to weild daggers for slimes in first floor of SE)

Point being, I can see rdm + nin feasible gathering their AF+1 items themselves in Apollyon, but Temenos? Following wiki's info, only west contains both RDM+NIN drops. RDM in first/second yet NIN drops in 3rd floor, is that practical for duo? Temenos north has NIN drop on first floor and second as well but sadly no RDM. Seems more effective to alternate west/north clearing to 2nd floors and beyond for temenos, no?

Any thoughts? Enlighten away~

EDIT: I'm aware that nin's can solo temenos 1st floor to try their luck on 1 chest. Just looking for alternatives w/ RDM regardless.

Actually, nin doesn't even have to use daggers in SE until the 2nd floor with crabs. Nin can completely solo the first floor easily, and if they're well-equipped, knock off part of the 2nd floor too. A nin+rdm duo I can only imagine doing even more.

If you assume:
a: Wiki is correct and there are 7 possible drops from that chest.
b: All materials have the same chance to drop.
c: 1 material (or an average of 1) drops per run.

After 30 runs, you have roughly a 7% chance of having not seen 1 of those 7 items. That isn't really -that- low.

And at 20 runs, it's a 32% chance to have never seen 1 of those 7 items.


I think there is a good chance you are confusing random chance and streaks with a low drop rate, but I could be wrong. In any case, too low sample size/etc. For us, it feels all we see from that chest is rdm, smn, and nin.

Personally, I'd suggest skipping 2nd floor in Western Temenos. Mandragoras that hit like trucks aren't very fun for shadows. Not saying you can't kill them, but I'd suggest just killing 1 mandragora for the teleporter, then moving on to the 3rd floor (then again, I've always done this with DD/nin with poor evasion, so maybe a real nin wouldn't have trouble with em at all?). Worst case you get lucky on time chests and there are more floors ahead of you (4th has nin, 5th has rdm and nin).

As for Northern, I don't see why you couldn't clear 2nd floor as long as your rdm is good at keeping things slept (such as the nin when he gets charmed!).

In one of the old NIN solo limbus threads, someone who had been doing it for coins over a year got their first NIN drop from it.. that would be over 100 runs before it dropped. I didn't mention that beforehand because it's not a firsthand account and I didn't feel like digging through KI. I know probability and margins of error, thanks.

I've actually experienced the opposite.

nin and rdm can clear the first two floors of SE pretty easy. NIN needs eviscretion unlocked for floor 2 and a good dagger set. I used to do this a lot with a rdm/nin (ideally good melee gear joyeuse and justice and a good dagger or something to swap out the justice on the next floor) and me as nin/thf we woulda made it to floor 3 a few times but the floor 2 boss is pretty gay.

RDM should really have no problem killing the kraken solo with the 2h chest up.
