Lowest number for practical Sky farming

Currently in the process of getting together with a small number of friends and close, competent acquaintances to do some farming in Sky. Not too concerned about Kirin at the moment, due to the massive difference between the general gods and himself, but what would everyone say is a practical number for a small group of people wanting to do this? Obviously all of the triggers can be killed with next to nothing, and Seiryu and Genbu can be done solo/duo/trio with relative ease, but in terms of Byakko and Suzaku, I wasn't entirely sure. My initial thought was anywhere from a party of six, to a party of eight or so; Tank, healer, RDM, BRD, BLM, BLM, THF. Its been ages since I've touched a god that was any more threatening that rawrwaterga3, so I'm not exactly up to speed with how few members people are pulling this off with these days.

And, just as a less important question, what is the fewest number of people to have felled Kirin?

    Thanks in advance.^^

I think kirin has been done with 7-10 before, I'm not sure. I've personally done it with 11, straight tanking w/o zerg, and I'm sure kiting can cut a bit off of that. The smallest group I'd say could reasonably do byakko would be something like:

NIN/DRK NIN/DRK THF/DRK BRD/BLM BRD/BLM RDM/DRK.. if you don't care about TH, replace the THF with something else. You could probably have one BRD sub WHM or BRD/BLM + COR/WHM too, though elegy is only 7:12/10:00 with one brd/blm full meritted troubadour and the fight will last longer than that so you'll have sections with no elegy. The BRD/BLM should start trying to restick elegy after half the duration, since a normal cast will still overwrite the guaranteed one if it sticks and add duration. Regardless of gear, elegy stick rate will be at the lower cap of 5% unfortunately. Songs should be marchx2, ballad2, your call minne/mambo/minuet on melee, double ballad on rdm obviously. RDM and NINs free stun at timer, THF only stuns banishga 3 and after diaga 3. This all applies to byakko only, the same setup can do suzaku(and it's much easier). /BLM isn't necessary for suzaku as even without elegy it's pretty tankable, though having one still helps some. The red mage should have reraise on in case they pull hate with chainspell stun, but even a weakened RDM can keep 2 competent nin/drks alive forever on suzaku.

Edit: Seiryu may be easy to low man with binds, but really shouldn't try it with less than 8-10 in my opinion, radiant breath is guaranteed damage and it has pretty heavy regain.

Edit2: It looks like you're planning on BLm damage, but those really need to be additional players outside of tank party.. at very worst, take the setup i suggested and replace one BRD with a BLM. TP shouldn't be a big concern on byakko/suzaku, and seiryu about always has 100 anyway.. I recommend SAM/THFs for damage over BLMs.

    As usual, thanks Thorny.

In regards to Seiryu, most of my interested friends aren't light in mage jobs, so I was just planning on throw two RDMs and whatever SMN/BLM/SCH we had available beyond that, still utilizing the Bind/Kite strategy, only with timed damage from the above trio.

How would you kill them with that setup? Just DoT them down with THF+Bio/Poison? What if you replaced a BRD with a BLM? Would also give you another Stun and Paralyna if they sub WHM.

Yes, like you said you would slowly kill them with THF + Bio, poison doesn't stick reliably on anything but suzaku. They asked for the minimum, and that would be it If you want a faster kill, add a few BLMs or SAMs outside party. As I said, replacing a BRD with a BLM is feasible but the extra songs do add a fair bit of damage and more defensive capability than a BLM, especially if your THF gears like a DD instead of the usual 5/5 dragon + dodge earring garbage people wear.

I don't think Avesta has soloed Suzaku, and I know he hasn't soloed Byakko.. any half decently equipped RDM can solo Genbu, Seiryu, or triggers =|

Would it be feasible to kill Suzaku with just one NIN/DRK? I know for Byakko you pretty much need two tanks, as he can triple + Razor Fang at any moment and destroy you, but Suzaku never seemed as offensively potent, especially with multiple Stuns.

Yea, but it's still best to have a backup in case shit goes badly. If you're looking into lowering #s for suzaku only, you could bring dual RDM/NIN tanks and the one who has hate chainspells stoneskin for 2hr. This condenses NIN/DRKx2 + RDM/DRK into 2 slots, but it's just nitpicking at that point. Dual NIN/DRKs gets you a bunch of additional stuns and you can use katanas while the other has hate if damage is that much of an issue.

Every God in Sky can be killed with 6. 2NIN/DRK, THF/DRK, RDM/DRK, WHM/DRK, BRD/BLM. Add in some BLM/WHMs to make them go faster. /DRK on everyone is for Byakko, not needed as much for the others, THF/DRK for extra stun and extra DMG. NINs should be in full DMG- set-up for Byakko. WHM needs to Paralyna the Tank with hate first and then the second one. It takes longer to kill everything his way but you have to expect that when using so few.

I've also zerged Kirin with 10-12 people and no KC DRKs. (May have had MKris DRK on one of them not sure) Just need really good DDs.

All trigger NMs are killable with 1-3 ppl pretty easily.

Everything in Sky aside from MG, Byakko and Kirin can be done duo or solo. Suzaku can indeed be duo'd by two RDM/NINs without the use of Bind since you can actually survive a good while with Suzaku right on top of you (unlike Seiryu, who's just a monster). He doesn't have the same extremely potent TP regen that Seiryu does and I'm pretty sure his melee attacks aren't quite as viscious, so all you need to do is bounce hate between you and kite it around.

MG can be done with three people and I'm told that Byakko is also trio-able by three RDM/NIN bouncing hate as you would do when duo/trio-ing Rapido or JoT.

MG has been duo'd with blm + rdm, blm kiting MG while rdm nukes the pods I think. I never did figure out how exactly to do the pull with just duo though.

I've done zippy, sc, and ulli with mnk/nin, whm, and brd. Haven't really been lowmanning sky alot recently but its relatively easy.

Clear the Orbs in front of the room by the porter. RDM aggros and BLM ga3 asap. Fully buffed RDM can hold the orbs just long enough, just need to be fast. Both RDM and BLM need to be /NIN. BLM Stuns/Kites/Nukes MG when he can. RDM nukes down babies. It's a tough duo, alot easier with 2 RDMs+BLM or 3 RDMs.

Pretty sure Seiryu is a little harder than "any half decently equipped RDM can solo Genbu, Seiryu, or triggers =|". Byakko is safer with 4rdm/nin than 3. Bring a smn if you can for BPs to speed it up a lot.

Seiryu is just luck, anything that'd kill a competent well equipped RDM would also kill avesta. There's only so much you can do if it decides to tp as it gets close enough for shriek after a short bind. Sure, that sounds very specific, but with the time the fight takes it's not that unlikely.

Or Fang Rush you right in the face, decide to 2hr right after a crappy Bind, manage to hit you with Gravity after a volley of double attacks, and so on and so forth. I'd wager it took Avesta quite a few tries to make that video.

Suzaku solo, impossible. However it is easily managed with 3 RDM/NIN's using the triangle tanking technique. That is, assuming all the RDM's are quick thinkers, responsive, well versed in tanking and have some experience in solo/low man situations.

Byakko solo, impossible, it's WAY too hard for anybody to ever beat solo. However, you can use a single mage party to defeat it. 2 BRD/BLM's, 3 RDM/NIN's and 1 RDM/WHM. Use the triangle tanking method again here. Have the BRDs and the RDM/WHM stand directly in the middle. The RDM tanks should be far enough away from each other that they dont wipe each others shadows with Diaga or Banishga and they also won't get hit with Roar. The BRD's in the middle should be able to hit all 3 RDM tanks with Ballad and March without ever having to move from their spot. Add SMN's to cut the duration of this fight in half.

Seiryu is practically the hardest thing a RDM can solo. It is the only thing that gets my heart racing and keeps me nervous throughout the entire fight (Except for maybe Faust).

Genbu is a pushover, any job with some sort of refresh and Bio can kill this (Regardless of level). A DRK/WHM could solo this if they had a Parade Gorget for Christ's sake.

Likely possible with RDM + MNK, clear room and single pull a few of the back slaves then chainspell the rest for pull. MNK needs occasional cures, but a good MNK can be mostly self-sufficient while soloing slaves. I've done it with RDM MNK and a 2boxed blm that just did ele dots >.>
