FFXI Crashing at Port Jeuno Middle/Aht Whitegate Moghouse/Batallia Mall

Is anyone else crashing when they try to get close to the middle area of Port Jeuno(The area around the soap merchant), Aht Whitegate's Moghouse entrance, or the 'Mall' in Batallia?

I called GM support on this a while ago and they suggested I check my files. I did, and fixed the broken ones. However, the problem has not gone away. I have discovered that someone else in my LS is having the same issue.

Is anyone else experiencing this? From the response I have gotten from the GMs, either no one is reporting it or they don't care.

We called a GM on Midgard. Dynamis-Jeuno.

Near the end of the run with, death pulling the Megaboss, some random stray hate was on me and the deathpull came for me, I flee'd them across zone, and when I died, they just camped my corpse, shit popping everywhere and lag ensuing. Some mobs just made a home on random staircases.

Suddenly people saw dead people standing, and some mobs were "invisible" to people.

Eventually I force DC'd and the mobs went after my linkshell, most never saw the horde and died to what they thought was an invisible force of death. Several other people intentionally DC's and upon return all of their inventories wouldn't load and the LS chat for them wouldn't work because it said "no shell is equipped" even though they could see SOME of the incoming chat on LS. Some messages got through, some didn't.

We basically felt like the server holding the Jeuno zone got a virus. Lost >45 minutes of the Jeuno run.

I'm sorry that happened and I hope you get more than 'submit a bug report through playonline' from the GM; but that seriously has me giggling like mad. I would be right pissed off when it happened but thats probably one of the funnier scenarios to imagine happening to someone else in the game.

A ls mate of mine fixed his by removing his firewall. It seems it blocked some FF servers but not others for some reason.

You can try adding proper exceptions to the firewall if yours is up.

Add: Nevermind, that was for the zone in + crash issue.

I have very weird crash spots. The Whitegate appraiser, right before the AH, and the assault place. It doesn't happen all the time but there will be some times (like when I'm doing assaults) where each time I go to the assault place I crash. It can get really annoying quick.

The one person who managed to get out of the zone dropped a GM call while we all tried to explain to each other what each was or wasn't seeing. For example: the person who got OUTSIDE to Jeuno itself eventually degraded to the point that Linkshell, Shout, and Tells did not work for him (yet the GM was able to speak to him normally). Meanwhile another person had like 1/3 of their text get through, while I had the "linkshell not equipped message" but I could see ls chat from others.

Basically we all had various permutations of what felt like server disconnect / dropped packets. Some peoples ls pearls didn't load, some peoples entire inventory was empty, for some people the positions of mob didn't load (i.e. invisible death squad), for others mobs remained stationary camping their corpse instead of resetting, and one guy saw all dead people as standing, etc etc.

The GM gave the usual "We're sorry to have inconvenienced your linkshell. We'll look into it, but we cannot guarantee you'll receive a refund for your glass. Thank you, have a nice day."

I use to crash a lot but that was due to a bad video card.

This glitch has been around for quite a while, so I don't think its related to the OP's situation. Almost every other time we fight boss at MH or AH in dynamis-jeuno, the exact same thing you explained above happens. So we always just killed boss at last 5mins to maximize our farming time.

As for the OP's question, I used to have a similar problem when accessing certain areas, mainly port jeuno. I would crash as soon as I entered the zone, I tried everything from repairing files, re-installing ffxi, updating and re-installing drivers. Turned out it was just a bad card, had to replace it and things were back to normal.

I find it hard to believe that this would simply be a case of a 'bad card', since I know at least one other person is crashing in the same exact areas.

Can anyone else verify any crashes?

I'm getting crashes at the same areas as Ziegus, and I agree w/ Tarage that I find it hard to believe its a video card issue. It happens too consistantly in the same spots. Some days I won't have any problem though. And most of my spots are areas that aren't very busy.
