Endgame Classes

What classes are generally sought out for in endgame?

Like in FF for tanks it tends to be

1) PLD
2) NIN

DD

1)KCLUB DRK
2)BLM
3) RNG
4) WAR

and etc

I'm mainly wondering the top DD classes or DPS I guess in WOW that are looked for in endgame. And possibly a top 5 class list of what classes are sought out. (I.E. Can never have enough BRDs CORs KClub DRKs in a ls)

Any class... seriously. They changed it all round last patch so all classes have some sort of buff they bring to the raid, but no class has that buff to themselves, and as such, no class gets raid-stacked. Just about every class has a damage dealing talent spec thats pretty on par with the others, they've tried to make it so that all damage dealing classes can bring the same sort of dps to a raid, as well as the dps specs of hybrid classes. They want people to pick the player not the character to raid with apparently.

Thats for raids though. For 5 man instances levelling up everyone is always going to want a tank and a healer as there is never enough of them, though that might change with WotLK as there might be plenty of death knight tanks around levels 55+.

Tank classes:
Warrior (Protection spec, but any spec can tank 5 mans with really, especially lower lvl ones)
Paladin (Protection spec)
Druid (Feral tanking spec)
Death Knight (Has tanking talents in all 3 talent trees)

Healing classes (can usually heal in any spec if they have decent healing gear and some skill):
Priest (Holy and Discipline are the healing talent specs)
Druid (Restoraton is the healing talent spec)
Shaman (Restoraton is the healing talent spec)
Paladin (Holy is the healing talent spec)

DPS classes:
Mage
Rogue
Warlock
Hunter
Shaman (Enhancement or elemental spec)
Priest (Shadow spec)
Warrior (Fury or arms spec)
Paladin (Retribution spec)
Druid (Balance or feral dps spec)
Death Knight (Has DPS talents in all 3 talent trees)

Easy to level, high dps. If you get serious about endgame raiding, then there is 500000000000000 of them to compete with, and nothing will really make you stand out over any other one of them.

WoW's raid designers have promised to move away from 'raid stacking' (i.e. 6 shamans in the raid) so that there is a good mix of classes in every piece of 10-25 man content, so yeah, any class is desirable. If you want to pick a class based on getting picked for 5-mans, being a healer, tank, or ranged dps has always been desirable for dungeons. The numbers aren't back yet so I don't think there is a verifiable 'top 5' dps list out, and in any event the numbers get scaled back or forward all the time, so it's not all kraken drks and aegis pld/nins.

Having a solid CC helps (something most warlocks relinquish for higher dps/better stat buffs) in 5mans too, best CCs are poly/sap then probably trap (most hunters suck dick at it, so people generally assume you don't have the ability to competently trap anything if you are a hunter)

Elaborate, if you don't mind? Are dungeons being reworked so trash is only in 2-3s so you don't need the CC?

I think theyre getting at the fact that all tanks can AOE tank these days, and most people will be over-geared from raids for most of the 5 mans, so there won't be much point with CC.

tanks were reworked so that they generate a massive amount of aoe threat, meaning dps dont have to hold back, meaning stuff generally dies fast enough to facilitate not ccing.

Swipe (bear tank's only aoe ability with any kind of respectable threat gen) only hits 3 targets, tclap only 4...still need CC beyond that, no?

lol silly goose, shockwave the new warr final prot talent is frontal cone aoe dmg that crits for like 3-4k or something silly. Dunno about bears i hate them and never want to be near a bear tank.

I <3 my pally... cool thing is I can pick up 3 sets of gear change a spec and perform all 3 roles.

<3 it's not you i promise it's the horrid bear tanks and the inability for them to preform at that given time. I'm sure they can maybe survive and what not now this was before they got buffed.

Truth, the amount of raids I attended as my Paladin (Holy) compared to my Hunter was astronomical.
