I've searched all over for info on these NMs and can't find it. From what I understand they only pop during beseiged? How hard are they? Whats the drop rate on Trance Belt? And is it lotto or just random pop during besieged?

The drop rate is absolutely abysmal, but if something drops it will be either Genie Gages or Trance Belt, never both. Also, the only mob that drops items is the RNG. I would recommend you kill them in the order PLD -> RDM -> RNG. If you kill them and 30 minutes elapse before Besieged is over, they'll repop.

He doesn't mean then pop IN Besieged, but that they pop during besieged at their location. I honestly don't know if there is another requirement for their pop. It used to be that you could sleepga the pack, damage him then zone and when you zoned out, only he would still have aggro but a friend who had soloed it said they changed it. When it was pullable that way was possible to solo as a (skilled) 75 RDM and I know 2 BLM who duoed it, however you would definately need more if you can't separate them any more.

the other 2 NMs can despawn. just have a NIN aggro all 3 of them and mijin somewhere. wait for them to despawn, and kill the main NM.

And I've seen both items drop in a screenshot Taj so that is untrue about 1 at a time.

I got a trance belt the one time I killed them in a meritpo out there.

Both items can drop at the same time. I've killed it as a trio of bsts just using the crawlers and mobbing them to death one at a time. We killed them rdm -> pld -> rng by pet pulling and splitting the link. They can be tricky to break because they stop to cast/shoot which can relink if you're unlucky.

The NMs didn't despawn when we pet pulled them either.

Both items can drop together - i've farmed these buggers a shitload.

AsTaj said, only mob that can drop item is the ranger. Another reason for the kill order is because if you try to kill the rng first, it has uber def, takes 0 dmg often etc(almost unkillable) So as he suggested, good order is pld>rdm>rng. Make sure you erase def down when the rng uses it and you fight him since EES goes through blink and with def down can 1shot you.

Bring a thief, or sj thief and drop rates are fine.

Sorry for necro-bump but does anyone know whether it's still possible to zone them and just get the rng and then proceed to solo it?

Sure you can zone the other two brothers, but they will walk right back to where you're fighting the rng, and link. They do not stand around at their spawn point - their spawn point is the rng NM.

Depends on the level of besieged, I believe. At level 8, my group could not separate them no matter what we did, and believe me - we tried really damn hard. they have some sort of weird linked hate. We sac pulled and zoned in every possible way.

At level 1 (when I did get my belt) it was np separating them (and man, did they die easily then, too). I was 1/2 on belt, though we made multiple attempts at level 8 that didn't end so well.

I used to duo these NMs with a NIN and me on RDM. They pop when the trolls start to advance just through the Gates of Halvung (near ZNM Troll ??? area). Basically I buffed up me and the nin, stuck on my W Legs and agro'd everything and trained it all to the zone (inc the NMs). NIN would pull off one NM and solo it at the Gate until I zoned and headed back. W Legs actually gives you the chance to sneak up before the Clots area as trolls are really slow so that you get less agro to the zone. Only thing you need to watch is following the NMs back to their pop. They are true sight so until you get out of the tunnel you can't overtake them without agro so your NIN needs to be a great soloer and have meds like potions etc to stay alive. I would get back finish the first NM off then repeat the process for the next.

Usually we got 1 of the NMs to drop something. We farmed up several belts for LS peeps at one point. Wish I still did this for gil since it was so easy but my NIN duo partner no long plays So I can't confirm if they are still zoneable or what not recently as it has been prolly 6 months since I last did this.
