    The Shield finale

Anyone else watch this? I did a quick search and it looks like there is very little discussion about this show. This show ranks up there as one of the highest quality shows I've ever watched, I'm surprised there seems to be so little interest. I'll keep spoilers out of my post, just to encourage others to check out the DVDs.

I've only seen a handful of series finales, but this one definitely tops them all. I'm not disappointed in the least. All the characters had their moments, got their dues, and everything wrapped up nicely. I expected things to turn out like this, but it was amazing to watch it all unfold this way. Especially Ronnie, he really got to me at the end. I'm really going to miss this show, I've enjoyed the ride.

Heh, something else I just found out about while looking for somewhere to discuss this. The series "was so directly inspired by the Rampart Scandal that "Rampart" was nearly used as the series title."

The last two episodes made up for a show that had sort of started to sputter after Forest Whitaker's arc on the show ended a season and a half ago. Certainly not the perfect way to end the series, and the implications of Vic's fate were maddeningly presumptuous, but a good ending to a show that has at times been as good as anything on TV.

I loved this series. The finale was epic. They kept Vic true to his character. He did whatever he had to, to stay afloat in his sea of shit. I was dreading that they'd give it some kind of happy Hollywood ending. I'm glad they kept it real. FX has some really great drama shows. It's a shame a lot of them get passed up because they aren't on FOX. I'm hoping the season finale for Sons of Anarchy sets up an epic 2nd season. I've been watching it and it looks like it could turn out quite well if they take it in the right direction.

Man, I am kind of torn with the Shield series finale, I liked some parts of it, like how they wrapped up Shane (trying not to spoil it for anyone who's tivo'd it), but I didn't like how they ended it with Mackey. Also, as someone who has seen every episode leading up to this season at least twice, I did like how for the most part the series was brought to a conclusion. This year in TV sucks for me, first the Shield, and next ER. The only show left that I will watch will be House.

I did enjoy the ending mostly except for the very final scene because
    Spoiler: show
it reminded me all too much of The Sopranos....where it just cuts to black. Like, where is Vic going? Looks out the window and sees the cop cars go by then grabs his gun from the lockbox and then poof, series over. I woulda like to see something more dramatic but overall a pretty solid episode.
