Cyber Monday the Online Black Friday?

This is a new concept to me as i've never heard of it before. Are basically all the same stores that had black friday doing the same thing for cyber monday or is this just a hoax? I read about Amazon doing discounts today too or something of that sort does that mean that they are not participating in Cyber monday? Basically if this exists is it excluseive to a few online stores or everyone with an online shopping thing does it. Also is it the same prices/cheaper/ or more expensive then items in stores at black friday?
