Is there any trick to popping this guy? I know the PH allegedly moves from one of the 4 rooms, but does anyone have any information on how fast the PH moves to room to room so i can have a better chance of popping him? I kinda wonder if maybe the PH moves depending on game day possibly. I managed to dual box with 2 blm last nite and clear 9 rooms in 2 hours, but could not get him to spawn. This is beyond frustrating sometimes and imo he is by far the hardest NM to spawn.

I don't think its a PH. You can clear all rooms and it won't pop. It's lottery pop after killing aerns on those rooms.

Imagine the oldschool Ullikummi, except now there's 4 rooms in which he can spawn. GLHF!!

Seriously though, there's no trick that I could figure. Just convince yourself you're there for exp and all will be good. I think I've done over 90k exp across 2 blm accounts in the past 2 weeks there. People have simultaneously killed all 4 rooms and have no pop for hours. There's not much else you can do except go through the motions. My latest 3 pops were in room 1, 3, and 1 again. Those times, I'd farm in the order 1>2>3>4 back to 1. I'm usually the only one in sea for hours, so I know it hasn't been popped lately. Time where I HAVENT been able to pop it were when I'd farm rooms 2>3>2>3 (lazy mode) etc. I'd be there for 8 hrs doing 2 rooms with no pop. Capped exp 2x though.

Although one time, I didn't pop it after 3 hours doing 1>2>3>4>1 with 6 blms doing -aga3 massacre.

Friend I know has had it pop off itself. Other times we have gone something retarded like 15 hours (spread across farming days) with no pop. Last stint was 2 pops in 30 minutes which both dropped a cape.

DRG is just stupid. Go there to XP on BLM instead of puddings, and kill it as a bonus.

DRG as far as I can tell is completely random with no limitations that force him to pop. Most loto mobs have a set window and will pop in the end of it, as far as I can tell this does not apply to him.

I've gone there with a group of 4 - 5 BLMs and killed for 5-6 hours on end, and gotten no pop. Same with splitting up 2 groups of BLMs and killing the 4 rooms for hours on end with no pop. Then there's been times he's popped within 3 kills while I was there solo or in a duo.

Its just a really shitty NM to pop.

Have gone with a group of 9 killing for 4 hours(picked up about 35k exp) clearing all 4 rooms and being back to the first room before the respawns,(this was about 13-15 "laps") no pop, another group mysteriously shows up as we get back to the first room and claim the first re-pop aern, and it pops for them.

This mob is a definate bitch.

Hmmm, i wish SE wasn't so secretive on this NM. There has to be some kind of trick, but i guess you never know with SE. It could just be another one of those completely random things. The worst apart about this NM is you could spend hours on end and when you finally pop him, you get the stupid cape. My LS has killed him 7x the last 2 1/2 months and gotten the stupid cape 4x.

Popped him last night in the 4th room off the rng aern on thundersday and got deed. We plan on popping him about 2 more times over the weekend. I'll try to keep data on what mob pops him and on what day. Maybe there is a trick to popping him if he does indeed having a "moving PH". My gut tells me though there probably isn't and its like Ulli used to be.

as for Ix DRK, its more clever. Tell yourself your there for XP, and it will pop, but will RR 70 times if it know your lying.

After you kill any of the 12 Aerns, Ix'aern has about a 2% chance of spawning in the middle of the room. There are no placeholders, no respawn time, no windows. The animosity and Jailer of Temperence run on the same idea.

The best advice I have to give is this: If you are lucky enough to pop it once, odds are VERY good that will pop again (in the same room, often from the exact same PH) after the ~15 min respawn cooldown has elapsed. I've personally witnessed numerous back-to-back pops, far too many for it to be coincidence (this holds true for Ix'DRK as well).

The best parallel I can think of is Bhaflau Remnants Reactionary Ramparts where if the NM pops once the probability of it poping multiple times is high. Many players will tell you "good luck comes in streaks" or "when it rains it pours" and this is no exception.

As far as poping the NM is concerned I can't you help out... There is no secret. Like others have said, just treat it as an exp pt with a small chance of an NM.

There is no 15 minute respawn timer. I have killed Ix'aern and immediately followed it with another aern, resulting in another pop, in less than 5 minutes.

Update: i managed to pop him on back to back nights off the rng aern in SW room 2x in a row. Once on Thundersday and the 2nd on Lightsday. Got Deeds both time luckilly as well.
