Recommend 5 Playstation games and why!

So, I now have access to pretty much any Playstation game in existence and am looking for some good ones to play.

Keeping in mind that I've played the major shit like all the FF games and what not, recommend 5 games that aren't obvious that I've already played and why you think they are good games. I'm looking at all genres atm. I can go from Tekken to FF7 to Harvest Moon ect, so taking all recommendations into consideration.

x-com ufo defense!

tactical game where you build bases, get soldiers and kill aliens. Hella fun and addictive, at least for me.

"Grandia": Its piss poor voice acting aside, "Grandia" is one of the best 128-bit RPGs ever crafted. Despite FFVII's bringing JRPGs into the mainstream, "Grandia" consistently received higher ratings than Square-Enix's breadwinner, and comes highly recommended.

"Jumping Flash!": It's unfortunate that this franchise was tainted and later abandoned, as the original "Jumping Flash!" is an incredible game. A rather unique 3D platformer that was well-received, yet practically forgotten, it's played in a first-person perspective at all times. You're constantly moving through a world that's essentially nothing but airborne platforms, jumping higher and higher in certain combinations to reach your goal. If you don't understand it now, don't worry -- simply play it, then you will.

"Incredible Crisis": This one can be played through relatively quickly, meaning there's no good reason not to give it a shot. It fits the "wacky game" bill nicely, consisting of several mini-game like stages -- more complex than WarioWare's, certainly -- that shouldn't be spoiled in advance, as you'll want to laugh at their ridiculousness. Its soundtrack is surprisingly phenomenal (for a game of its type), considering that it was largely performed by the Tokyo Ska Orchestra and fits IC's humor perfectly.

"Heart of Darkness": Bringing you back to the platformer genre, the side-scrolling "Heart of Darkness's" claim to fame was its orchestrated soundtrack. Coincidentally, I still have my copy, and I wouldn't give it up for anything. Excellent music aside, this one melds fantastical style with satisfying gameplay, providing a relatively compact yet thoroughly satisfying experience. It's a child's story of adventure adorned with darker fantasy aspects, making its setting "twisted fairytale"-esque. It's not very long either, making it yet another which shouldn't be passed by.

"Ape Escape": Although Nintendo's current infamy can be blamed on the Wii's abundance of poorly-made "waggle" titles, they're not the first to try capitalizing on a controller's gimmick. "Ape Escape" coaxed players into using the sticks on Sony's Dual Shock for practically every function. For that alone, it's worth experiencing, but since it's a legitimately fun platformer (with puzzle aspects), you should try it even if you don't care about the history lesson.

Let me guess Cream Soda - PSP?

I would suggest:

Metal Gear Solid: Vr Missions - If I am correct in assuming you snagged a cfw PSP then I would suggest this. The mission by mission progression is perfect for a portable title. It would more depend on if you liked playing the original but I found it fairly enjoyable.

Vagrant Story: Oh hell yes - the storyline behind this game is a real gem, and the gameplay is really interesting. It is an action RPG that for the most part got it right. Pretty good length too, and not that heavy on memory usage.

Legend of Legaia: If you can find a working copy of this it is worth a look. The battle system behind it had me playing for a while way back when it came out. The difficulty (I didn't uber level my characters) was fairly maddening at times which made it all the more fun. It is also an RPG.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: Just in case you haven't played it ... if you haven't, get it. Now. It seems to me to be a fairly well-known game, well worth a "must play" status. Too bad many people I know haven't played it. The original ftw - the PSP version doesn't seem as good to me.

Die Hard Trilogy: 3 Games wrapped together. I remember playing these things and enjoying every one of them way back when it came out. Not the greatest games in the world, but they were uber fun to me, which is good enough to throw on this list. One is an action game, another an on-rails shooter and the third is essentially driving.

Valkyrie's Profile, SO2, Xenogears are probably top PSX RPG of all time that doesn't have final fantasy in front of it.

If you don't mind japanese, rakugaki showtime is a really fun game to play.

I'd definitely try those, they are easily some of my favorite games ever.

My other 5 choices would be:
Breath of Fire III:
In case you've not tried a BoF game before, you basically play as a weredragon who saves the world from "God." This was one of the original "Player vs God" series. IV probably has better "gameplay," but I enjoyed the story and battle system in III quite a bit more.

Xenogears:
Amazing, amazing story, but don't expect to understand it after one playthrough. Read the Perfect Works. In my own humble opinion Xenogears stomps all three Xenosaga games put together.

Suikoden II:
Beautiful soundtrack and world with easy-to-hate villains. Luca Blight is one of the most fucked up characters I've seen. The cooking mini-game is one of my favorites.

Dragon Warrior VII:
So much to do in this game. If you want a perfect file, expect no less than 500 hours. The main storyline is huge. It's challenging, too, but only if you don't grind. Much better than VIII.

Dino Crisis:
Lacks analog support, but I think I've played through this game more than most of my other survival horror. I didn't like the sequels.

If you haven't played them before, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil 2 are great games, but I generally prefer Twin Snakes (superior gameplay) and REMake, both on the GC.

Runners up: Fear Effect, Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon, Crash Bandictoot: Warped!

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Theres a reason why this one is oft mentioned as the best in the series.

Tomba. Kind of suprised no one mentioned this yet. It's a 2d platformer but kicks so many levels of ass its unreal. Must-have.

Resident Evil 2. Great game, one of my favorites in the series. Has some serious OMG scenes that will keep you on edge.

Resident Evil 3. Another good one. Not quite as good as 2, but I liked the action in this one, and the unkillable tyrant following you everywhere really adds to the tension.

Legend of the Dragoon. Super long RPG in the same vein as FF. Has some issues but will take you ages to complete, and it's a fun ride.

Vagrant Story - Fantastic game that almost never receives any attention.

Xenogears - Don't argue, just get it.

Parasite Eve - Trust us, get it.

Resident Evil 2 - Because Leon Kennedy is a badass.

Fuck, I forgot about this. Definitely get this. The Dragoon transformations are probably some of the best normal graphics the Playstation has to offer. That may not be saying much, but they're still nice. The music is good and the story is satisfying.

And yeah, it's not perfect, but I've devoted a lot of time to this game. Be warned of the terrible translation, but that's its worst flaw.

Parasite Eve-i just rebought it off of ebay was a mistake giving it away all those years ago very awesome game. (if u look hard u will find the inspiration to Nyzul Isle there hehe)

Xenogears- love ff7 but xenogears was my favorite rpg of the ps1 era great battles and story

I've got Parasite Eve and Grandia downloaded as of now and currently playing Symphony of the Night (Though this isn't my first time, just love the game). Have played Xenogears and I agree its amazing (actually already have a copied version from years ago.) Thanks for all the suggestions and looking to read more. Have about 40 more blank CDs left so I have a lot to fill.
