I always got stuck like five minutes into that game. I played it over the summer and still had no idea what to do...So, if anyone has beat it can you tell me what happens in that game and how you get past the first area?![]()

YouTube - Mega Drive Longplay [011] Ecco the Dolphin
Speedrun, I had to watch it myself... I remember my friend stumbling across a boss somehow, and he was never able to do it again.
Talk to one of the dolphins, who will challenge you to a contest, then jump as high as you can. The rocks blocking the exit to the right side of the screen have been dislodged now, so now you can advance. The game is really difficult, and I never beat it as a child; but upon seeing this thread I decided to read the storyline on wikipedia and it's quite ridiculous lol.

For a second I thought this thread was about the shitty DC one.
Brother beat me a long time ago. I downloaded it from the live arcade but I'm pretty much stuck like you.
The last place I got to in Ecco was when you went back in time to the prehistoric period to get some weird power from the DNA...strand...thing and then travel to the present again. I probably could have finished it, because I watched a speed run and the game was nearly over but I never got round to it.
Ecco is a very very hard and frustrating game without a guide though, you could spend days wandering around some area trying to figure out what to do.
My sister had it for her Genesis. I eventually got to the prehistoric sea area after talking to the blue whale, but I never made it past that.
remember that swimming level in the NES version of TMNT?
Ecco has a level like that as the 2nd to last level and it's pretty long. The final boss wasn't too difficult unless he hits you with his whirlpool move that makes you do the 2nd to last level all over again. I think i gave up and never played it again after the third warp back.
I remember beating that. The final boss must have munched me like 400 times before I finally beat him.
I beat the game when I was a kid and I loved it even though it made me rage. I remember getting so pissed at the tube level, and that cave level where there aren't any air pockets D: Also fuck being a shark (can't remember if that was first game or second)
I also played the sequel but I can hardly remember it nowffff making me all nostalgic for my Genesis D:
Absolutely adore the Ecco games :O haunting and beautiful. Beaten all 3 (even the DC one which I actually liked!) many times.
If you mean Ecco #1,
Home Bay - jump in air, then go through rocks in the middle-right
Medusa Bay - There's a crystal glyph in the bottom left of the level, have to go through some caves to get to it. After that, the exit is in the middle-right past a glyph.
Undercaves - Charge the spiky shells carefully at the start; go through a dead end passage to get a glyph and be careful of the currents there. Knocking down conches clears paths through rocks. Swim very slowly past octopi. When you can see the end (again middle-right, though close to the bottom), you have to go to the left through a narrow passageway to get another glyph.
Those are the first three levels if you meant the first <_<
I played it when i was a kid, and didn't know what the hell to do so I used codes to skip to the final boss.
I bought it when it came to XBLA, and had been steadily working through it, but I stopped at some point. I'm going to finish it eventually!
The new quick save feature makes it a lot easier though. Assuming I get there, it will make the final boss even easier since you can just reload if you get sucked into the vortex.
