Model parts disappearing and eventual crashing of FFXI

    AMD Athlon[TM] XP 2600+
2.07 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM
    Radeon X1650

After I play FFXI on pc for a while (20 min+) the models begin to disappear, starting with body parts missing(ussually I start seeing floating heads) then eventually the entire models followed by freezing then total crash.

Has anyone encountered this issue and did they resolve it an how.

    Thank you, 81.

Yeah. That's probrably overheating, could even be static discharge damage. Both are caused by dust buildup, so get out some compressed air and blow that sucka out.

Did you recently reformat/download new drivers? And does FFXI just freeze/crash or is it whole PC?

Im open to being totally wrong but ~ My video card(ATI X1650!) on my old build did this(Random body parts go bye bye then FFXI would glitch out and freeze/crash) and it was just bad drivers (cat 8.9? iirc)~ I down graded my drivers to 8.2?(was a while ago) to this day never had the problem again...

Oh! Found the thread...Again I could be totally wrong

I recently had the same exact issue.

I present the Dance Dance Revolution version of FFXI:

I thought it was my video card. After some testing and pulling out parts and shit I found that it was one of my memory sticks that fried.

I had all kinds of problems form models disappearing to the above, to my chat box disappearing to having one texture (Strangely enough the Galka bronze subligar texture map) occupying the screen.

I had the same problem with my ATI Radeon X1950 Pro. Ended up fixing it by checking SE's site and going with the earliest drivers available from ATI for my card. I think it ended up being version 8.2 or 8.3.
