Burning DVR recorded shows
I'm using Direct TV as my TV company and I recently got a DVR installed. I was wondering how can I take TV shows that I've recorded to the DVR and put them on my PC. If I wanted to copy them and whatnot. I've been reading about different software people use, but I was wanting to come out as cheap as possible if that can be done. What software would be the best to use in order to get this done? What hardware is needed (if any) to copy to my PC?
Any input or advice would be appreciated!

I just bought a dvd-recorder, but if you really want to do it the easiest way is to buy a video capture card. There isn't really a way to specifically pull video off of your DVR. If there is, I would love to know it myself.

Depending on the box you have, there are ways of transferring shows to your PC. The motorola box I have I can use lolfirewire to transfer certain shows over. Google your box to find out.
