John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in Hollywood history, including Star Wars, Superman, Born on the Fourth of July, Harry Potter and all but two of Steven Spielberg's feature films including the Indiana Jones series, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park and Jaws .


Randy Newman - Newman's work as a film composer began in 1971, with his work on the Norman Lear satire Cold Turkey. He returned to film work with 1981's Ragtime, for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards. Newman co-wrote the 1986 film ¡Three Amigos! with Steve Martin and Lorne Michaels, wrote three songs for the film, and provided the voice for the singing bush. His orchestral film scores resembles the work of Elmer Bernstein (who he worked with on ¡Three Amigos!).

Newman scored the first four Disney/Pixar feature films; Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2, and Monsters, Inc. He also scored the 1996 film James and the Giant Peach and the 2006 Disney/Pixar film Cars. Additional scores by Newman include Avalon, Parenthood, Seabiscuit, Awakenings, The Paper, Overboard, Meet the Parents, and its sequel, Meet the Fockers. His score for Pleasantville was an Academy Award nominee. He also wrote the songs for Turner's Cats Don't Dance.

Kenny Loggins - Loggins recorded many hit songs for movie soundtracks. This began with "I'm Alright" (peaked at #7 in the U.S.), "Mr. Night" and "Lead the Way" from Caddyshack. Hits followed with "Footloose" and "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" from Footloose, "Meet Me Halfway" from Over the Top, "Danger Zone" and "Playing With the Boys" from Top Gun. Loggins also performed "Nobody's Fool" from the unsuccessful movie Caddyshack II. He also performed as a member of USA for Africa on the famine-relief fundraising single "We Are the World".

Daniel Robert "Danny" Elfman (born May 29, 1953) is an American musician, who is known for writing scores and songs for Tim Burton's films, composing "The Simpsons Theme" and the Mission: Impossible soundtrack, and leading the rock band Oingo Boingo as singer/songwriter from 1976 until its breakup in 1995. He has been composing film scores extensively since 1985's Pee-wee's Big Adventure. He was nominated for four Academy Awards and won a Grammy Award for Tim Burton's Batman and an Emmy Award for his Desperate Housewives theme. Elfman also wrote the theme for the video game Fable.

* Big Fish (2003)
* Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), in which he also provided the voices for the Oompa-Loompas in the musical numbers.
* Corpse Bride (2005), in which he also performed the role of Bonejangles.
* Alice In Wonderland (2010)

I used to play Danger Zone while playing Ace Combat. It doesnt get any better than that.

I dunno, I like some of Williams' work, but all too often these days his scores just don't stand out as much. Similar I'd say for Elfman...

Hans Zimmer has done some good stuff. Mark Mancina as well. Harry Gregson-Williams has done some similar stuff too (actually, all three of them worked on the score for the Rock).

Randy Edelman has done some strong pieces. Ones I recognize a lot from trailers n' things from Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story and Dragonheart.

James Horner is also very prolific, Howard Shore a bit less so, but the LoTR rings soundtracks were good I thought. Worth mentioning Michael Kamen for the Prince of Thieves soundtrack alone.

Of the ones you mentioned, I'd probably go with John Williams, but 99% due to work done prior to 2000, and mostly Jurassic Park and earlier.
