    Direct Parse

Doesn't seem to want to parse for me, do I have to open it before FFXI or would having 2 FFXI open effect it at all?

Did you change the memloc to MEMLOC=0x575968 ? I know you don't have to open it before you open FF, but not sure about 2 open FFXIs at the same time.

long as you have the right memloc, it'll parse one of the ffxi instances.

no way to designate which one at the moment tho

if you start it before the second FFXI instance is running it should lock to the first instance.

I've run into a few interesting issues in 2.2.92 that I'd like to discuss with you once I get a chance to too. although I need to do some more work on determining the exact behavior first.

np, shoot me an aim or message or whatever.

haven't really had a chance to use it myself, no time to xp SAM or pay attention to parse data

It ended up basically being a non-issue.

2.2.92 doesn't like having it's working directory reassigned (like what happens when you pin it to the start menu in vista) probably because necessary child files are no longer accessible. including the parent directory in %path% may solve this but I didn't bother to try it once I figured out what was going wrong.

if you know a way to modify the working directory assignments in vista pinned apps I'd appreciate the tip by the way, it didn't appear to me as though MS had exposed any way to do that.

I haven't worked in vista at all yet, and have no plans in the near future to change

I made sure to set up a double boot on my new machine now that vista is seeing penetration into the 'average user' market.

I actually am starting to kind of prefer it after three months of tweaking settings... (of course, I have a scary powerful rig so ymmv depending on what you work on)

Does anyone know if you can run directparse over a networked pc? If so can you please help me out with it? (I know I used to do this with an old parser running on my laptop and aimed at the folder on my PC.)

not unless the networked pc can see the memory space of the target pc (if you don't know if it can; it can't.) Direct Parse reads directly from the memory space of the FFXI app, so you need to be in an environment where that would be exposed.

obviously, exposing application memory space across network boundaries is like -asking- to be hacked.

you might want to look into whether or not lil'devils parser is still being supported (This was the successor version to spyle's, which is what you used)

that said, unless you're using time-stamp, I don't think that the older parsers would ever really break.. maybe won't check counter since they changed the wording, but the rest should be good to go.
