I read pretty much everything that pretentious people in coffee shops read and talk about, much to my embarassment. I just drink hot chocolate in coffee shops and pretend I'm drinking something that actually has some class. Sometimes that means sacrificing the little marshmallows.

With regards to the authors mentioned:
Dostoyevsky - start with Crime and Punishment or Notes from Underground, work to The Brothers Karamazov
Tolstoy - I'm not a fan, but I guess you could start with Anna Karenina
Hemingway - start with A Farewell to Arms, or The Sun Also Rises

If I'm going to namedrop, I guess I could throw out some of my favourite authors and some recommendations:
Joyce - start with The Dubliners or A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Ulysses is great, but fucking difficult to read, and Finnegans Wake is a book of themes and pictures
McCarthy - Blood Meridian: An Evening Redness in the West. You will not be disappointed. It is a brutal, violent book.
Rushdie - Midnight's Children is his best work by far
Pynchon - The Crying of Lot 49 is the book to start with, Gravity's Rainbow is his best work by far but is sometimes considered unreadable. I'd have to disagree, because it was one of my favourite reading experiences.
Kafka - Kafka's short stories are fantastic, the quality of The Metamorphosis is hard to disagree with, and his novels are quite amazing considering that they're unfinished.
Vonnegut - Cat's Cradle and Slaughterhouse-Five are staples of college reading lists, and for good reason. He writes in a simple fashion like Hemingway. Bluebeard is probably my favourite work of his. This might be my favourite author.
Eliot - If you don't mind poetry, it may sound a bit contrived, but T. S. Eliot is by far my favourite poet. The Wasteland is a powerful poem, The Hollow Men is fantastic, and his assorted works are a treasure trove

    Another good recommendation:
Catch-22 - Absolute classic of 20th century literature. To be honest, I can't really recommend checking out much of Heller's work beyond Catch-22. If you like Catch 22, Journey to the End of the Night by L. F. Cèline is worth checking out, because besides his antisemitic tendencies, he was incredibly on the literary landscape of the 20th century.

It's a little bit late and I'll have to check my bookshelf to throw out many recommendations and stuff beyond that. I'm just going off the top of my head, and to be honest, I always forget authors and books. When I go to a bookstore, I always leave forgetting to have bought what I went there for.

Add The Old Man and the Sea to the Hemingway list. It's short, it should only take an hour and a half to two hours or so to read if my memory serves me right, and it's a great way to get into his writing.

Man you took long enough to respond to my trap, I was getting worried only that Krye creature would respond.. I was serious about the books though so I didn't waste your time.

My time is like the Zimbabwe dollar. It's not worth that much when I have so much of it.

In the original smash bro's I would usually play jigglypuff because it could jump 6 times and then I would turn into that block of whatever and smash onto peoples heads. I may have also played fox and I would shoot his laser a lot.

I played Ness in the original. I was so good with the lightning. My friends hated that shit.
