Then Yin was like why the fuck do news stories always get their own thread? It's too hard to track all of these, and I need good stories to tell my friends so that they think I actually keep track of stuff going on in the real world.

I do not approve of this. it's going to get far too cluttered with all the fucked up shit that goes on in this world, and we'll never know who's talking about what. plus it's hard to know when someone posted a new story, and I'm not going to bother checking every new post every time I visit BG.

News stories get their own thread because that lets them fall off the first (and functionally speaking only) page of General when the discussion is over. Combined threads never fall off the front page if there's active discussion AND the discussion's multiple threads can cross one another and make reading it all incomprehensible, a complaint lodged against sports threads but managed by manually locking them during football season. FoD, random image, etc work because there's very little discussion, just entertaining media.

That's the way I see it, anyway.

While I understand that someone would be upset about purchasing a plot and then having it resold, which is clearly illegal, I find it mind boggling that people are so concerned with what happens to a dead body.

Unless you want to actually have a substantial conversation about what happened, why not just keep them on Fark or Digg where they belong? Quoting a story of something stupid going on in the world and then just adding a LOL at the end is a bit annoying.
