Paging BG Apartment Decor

I'm moving into my first apartment in about a month, and I can not find an entertainment center or computer desk that doesn't make me want to vomit. I don't have many requirments but here they are, any recommendations would be appreciated.

Entertainment Center: I have a 32" widescreen, but may want to eventually upgrade to a 37-42 so having that flexibility would be awsome. It also needs to have room for my PS3, Wii, AV Receiver, 360, and whatever retro system I get the craving to play, as well as room at a given moment. I can forgo the receiver if anyone can recommend a good HDMI/Component/Composite switch box as my TV is somewhat old school and only has two HDMI ports, 1 component, and 2 composite, and well my cable tv plus ps3 kills my two hdmi's -_-

Computer Desk: Just needs to be big enough for my 24" widescreen monitor, speakers, and a place to put a printer. Anything else is just gravy.

people knock them but their stuff is pretty decent for the price. if price isn't an option, then forget this advice. but if you have a pretty limited budget, check them out.

I was pretty disappointed by Ikea's computer desks, but then again I was in the market for a big L-shaped one that could hold multiple computers and still have a place to write. Both Staples and Office Depot have pretty cheap, nice computer desks, it's worth taking a look.

Did you ever end up finding a good desk? What you described seems to be exactly what I'm looking for as well.

yeah I got a pretty nice one for 99.99 made of wood, at staples. Here's a pic of it, I don't remember the name but it's pretty much Staples' own brand. The wood is starting to sag a bit on the big part because my obese cat sleeps there, so chances are I'll replace it sooner or later.

There was a nicer one for around 150-200 at office depot that was L-shaped, with frosted glass instead of wood, but it wouldn't have been in stock for months.

If you check their website you can probably order one (I think staples might have free shipping? i forget) but you're probably better off just going in there.

Yea, the IKEA i went to was pretty uneventful for what they had computer desk wise. Was kinda sad as I found an awsome bed and some other stuff there.

What I did was buy the corner parts to the build it yourself desks and then went and bought a huge sheet of 1" thick plywood and had it cut to my exact specifications at a wood yard. Couple coats of wood treatment to get a nice stain & make it water proof and I now have an awesome desk which is exactly the way I wanted!
