Sony's PSP repair policy?

Just here looking for any information regarding what Sony's repair policy is for PSPs out of warranty, as mine decided to kick the bucket between now and..................a month and a half ago?

Thing won't power on at all, figured it just bricked itself for some reason, so I hopped over to a friends to confirm that with a pandora (and fix it), but no go, thing is dead.

Main thing I'm worried about is the fact the thing does have CFW installed, and that the PSP has been opened up before in its lifetime (Piece of dust got under the screen at one point shortly after my PSP's warranty died, figured I'd go clean it out), does anyone know what Sony's policy is on the fact? If they do take it, I'm assuming I'm probably going to get a refurb slim or something given mine's a PSP-1000 back from the original NA launch period.

I just don't want to have to fork out $170 for a new PSP if it's possible to get this thing fixed......after I open it once more to double-check if the power switch itself is perhaps busted.

TL;DR version: My CFW PSP fat is dead, needs repairs, am I fucked or can I bullshit Sony to fix it for $$$ ?

What I'd do is buy a new (used) PSP from Gamestop, put CFW on it, then return your busted one in the same generic box they give you after a few days have passed. When you buy used systems, there's no serials to match or original packaging.

there is serials at gamestop(even on used systems), and it prints on your reciept even <_<

Its easier to do that at a place where the employees are dumb or don't give a shit, like walmart.

Took that puppy off the day I opened my PSP up to clean said dust from under the screen. Tossed it out later as there was no way to have placed it back on the system convincingly with the manner I took it off with. Figured it didn't matter at that point given the 1yr warranty for the system was long voided.

Will be giving Sony a dingle and seeing what the situation is, if worst happens, I'll end up shopping for a (new) PSP Slim that works with pandora.

lol i did this. I hit over a cup of water onto my friends. (thing died duh) went to Walmart, bought one, and then 3 days later came back saying it was not working. got myself a nice new PSP and he got his nice new PSP all for the price of one.

Anyone know of a decent place that gives a run down of what hardware parts do what in the PSP?

I think I isolated what's wrong with my PSP, and it's whatever accepts input from the controls. My PSP decided to work for the last 24 hours (just randomly plugged it in and flicked the switch, damn thing booted up), just for it to completely decline input from all the controls, including the power switch, within the last 15 minutes. System didn't freeze or anything (my game was still running), but I forced the PSP off by removing battery, and it's now back to its 'bricked' looking state which confused the crap out of me before when I initially started this thread.

Going to open it up again in the next couple days and check out the wiring, has to be something badly soldered in there for it to go back to a working state. If it was a hardware fail like a capacitor blowing up, it would have remained dead.

Just hoping whatever accepts input isn't done behind the screen, as that thing is a fucking bitch to remove thanks to the 4 hard-to-access clips that hold it in.
