I'm sure there's quite a few AiC fans on the forums, so I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks of the new song that was released.

I think it turned out really good and it makes me look forward to more of the new stuff.

Eh. Just so-so imo. Very strange video, but we've seen that before from them. My problem is I was a fan of Lane, so anything AiC puts out will be measured up against him.

I think everyone is going to compare it to the Layne era (with good reason) but I really think William was a solid choice for a vocalist.

As for the video, it actually makes more sense when you know what it's about. The first time I watched it it was odd but interesting. Then after reading the back story it made more sense.

The song basically speaks to any number of things that keep you balled up inside. A cell of our own making with an unlocked door that we choose to remain in. Focusing our attention inward instead of reaching out to a much larger world. I think this is common to us all. It's funny how hard we fight to hang on to a bone we can't pull through a hole in the fence, or how difficult it is to put down the bag of bricks and move on.

Oh the vocalist isnt bad at all, he just has a really tough job to do, to try to live up to Lane. I'm not saying try to be lane, just to be on par as a singer is a tough task.

Loved the song. William is doing a great job gonna be very intresting to see him perform Man in a box live. Layne snarl to scream was stuff of legend. only one that can probably come close to layne is sully.

Not bad actually, glad to see they're still as heavy and gritty as they used to be. His voice is different but not too different, if you get my drift.

It may just be the song or video, but he doesn't quite have the "haunting" quality of Layne's voice. He's a good singer, yeah, but that one thing is the big one that bugs me.

The song's pretty good but it feels a little flat, not much range/pitch and seems to just stay a constant. Again, lyrics or music it doesn't quite have the haunting feeling.

Definitely want to hear more. I love AIC and there's not much like them.

Not just the difference in the song styles, I listened to AiC since the first time I heard man in the box, it's just... an entirely different level of artistry.

Nutshell has gotta be one of my favorite songs ever, shit is just too good. Thing I loved about Alice in Chains was they could go either really mellow and soft, or bust out some shit that'd make your balls explode.

You're overstating it. Sure Layne staley was a epic loss but bands move on and considering it was Jerry cantrells band to begin with he is right to keep the name and memory alive. No one is even arguing that Layne was the heart behind AiC with his vocals but its pretty dumb to dismiss them because Layne isn't there. the fact is these guys still sound like they did back in the "Dirt" days will make these guys succede in the long run. I mean Fuck Jerry was the one the wrote most of the hits AiC had in the first place.

As awesome as Man in the box is it is afterall just one song. If it wasn't for Jerry Cantrell AiC would have gone the way of one-hit wonders with great front man.
