    Foolkiller Testing

Figure I put this here to prevent peeps shitting themselves cause i posted in the wrong section... if admins feel this is appropriate for advanced section they may move it there.

Also i have looked on BG forums,KI,wiki, alla, FFonline, and even IGN >.> no one gives a clear idea other than killing a lvl 8 besieged NM in Halvung, which from what i read has been debunked.

    Anyway...

I recently obtained a Foolkiller and i am quite eager to see how this Latent unlocks... I am gonna nix the traditional testing stuff like HP/MP/TP on normal mobs shit cause i know that's been done... i have been trying different Theories in an attempt to unlock this latent.

Here is what i have tried:

-Actively engaged, attacking, and ws'ing a TOAU NM in and out of pt @ 100-300 TP
    -Doing previous test while weakened
    -(While in Brenner) Under Slow,Bio,poison,dia,blind,silence and WS'ed @ 100
-(Einherjar Teir 1 and 2) actively attacking and WS @100-300 and while under various enfeebles and buffs
-(Einherjar Teir 1 and 2) previous test, while weakened
-Non-TOAU/Non-WoTG NM in and out of pt
    - in a full meripo, in Mamool staging point on mamool and Puk actively engaged and WS'ed @ 100-300 TP at full health and while weakened
-used sneak and invis NIN,Mage, and medicine Style
    - ate sole sushi NQ and meat mithkabobs
    - subbed every Job
-used hasso and other Various abilites with what i could use

I was in anywhere from a full alliance to partial alliance during einherjar

NM's I have attacked,WS'ed on and was in party/alliance are as follows:
-Tinnin (attacked and ws'ed but not while weakened)
-Kirlirger the Abhorrent (did not defeat him but did attack and WS while weakened)
-Overlord Bakgodek (same thing as with Tinnin)

    Current Theories:
    -Dynamis run
    -Beseiged run
    -Assault run
    -areas in sea
    -Limbus run
-attack other various NMs in all regions
    -possibly Closing a lvl 1 2 and 3 skillchain
-possible that it may be WS point related but no idea how many, WS points from Nyzul can be as high as 16k, so remember that
-since i have been there to kill Sarameya and Tinnin i would like to kill Tyger to see if that does anything, since Fool killer comes from Sarameya 1 of the 3 tier 4 ZNM
-Killing Pandemonium Warden, this theory feels like a strong possibly to work since SE likes to fuck with us in unusual ways
    -Teir 3 Einherjar
    -Kill Odin
    -kill bahamut
-get the killshot with or w/o Foolkiller on any of the above NMs that i have already fought and have yet to fight
-using various meds i have not used
-other foods i have not used
-Possibly a mathematical equation relating to the Weapon's stats and/or the steps taken to be able to fight the NM that drops it (a bit extreme i know but you never know)

Now i want to say that WoTG has nothing to do with this Weapon but i will still try to do Various things in the past to see what is what.

If anyone has any useful theories i have not mentioned please feel free to post here. I will try them if i can.

it could be active vs imps only. The "fool" in Foolkiller could refer to imps. Imps can be seen as fools or jesters (like Odin's Fool and Odin's Jester). Plus imps are ToAU mobs and Foolkiller is a ToAU weapon.

    Sync'ed to lvl 72 w/ a random

actively attacked and WS on a Heraldic Imp in Caedarva Mire @ lvl 75

    popped a wing for TP

attacked and WS'ed @ lvl 75 another Imp in same area while weakened

All did nothing to boost STR

will try to sync to 72 and attack an imp though i will prolly get the same result

How are you testing whether the latent is active or not during WS's?

Probably active during WS, like Futsuno.

Never had a chance to use one of these, but my friend always used to tell me the latent was active with a certain title. I *think* he claimed it was the title from the troll god.

    Disproved. Have both, doesn't work.

The only way to tell if the latent is active during a WS is by numerous SA'd WS (/w secondary STR modifiers) on too weak mobs where attack is capped.

Not to be mean, but it appears the OP thought the STR+8 would show up in Eq screen during a WS or something, since it would take well over a 100 WS on the same level mob with no variance in buff/debuff. (Highly improbable in meripo and ein style events.)

If you're realli up for testing STR+8 on WS I'd suggest the following test:
    WAR/THF (Record stats.)

    Perform ~20 SA'd Raging Rushes on lv 1 Bunnies/Bees outside Sandy/Bastok.
    Record each value.

Equip a "Gawain's axe" (DMG is also 90.)
Repeat the same ~20 SA's Raging Rushes on lv 1 mobs.
    Record each value.

Post /w your stats and recorded values for each WS.

Since SA forces the crit, extra TP over 100 will not alter the damage. (Which is why Raging Rush is the WS of choice for this test.) Crits while attack is capped is a very small range, and it should be easier to deduce any change in the average damage from the extra STR if it is active during WS. You should notice about ~6 damage average difference if the STR active. (Actual base stats and rounding will change this number.)

Yes i did think that the +8 STR would show up in the equipment screen cause i would bring it up and physically type the WS command in the chat log to see if it would do anything.

I would like to try your suggestion but would like to ask that when i record the values of each WS should i use a parser or just write down the DMG brought up in chat log? Since i have never done a test of this sort so i figure i'd ask.

Also it is possible for a latent to be active but show no evidence other than a DMG difference in log or parser? I.E. with futsuno?

Yea, this is how we know for sure certian DMG values are active during WS. For example Maneater or Blau. It used to be much easier to test as the damage value capped, instead of being a small range. It's also how all secondary modifiers and fTP are tested. (Would be nice if the game allowed us to see what stats are active during WS, instead of spending an hour testing :/.)

Don't need to use a parser, just recording the values on a notepad and posting will be fine. There are lots of math whizes on these forums who can analyze the data faster/better than I can. I believe 20 WS /w and w/o latent should suffice for determing latent.

SE told us Futsuno works during WS I think.

This is the same latent as I recall, if I had one I would have it tested long ago, but I refuse to pay for one because even with the latent working it isn't worth it.

Maybe its active when you have a certain status ailement on. and since it drops from a cerberus type mob, and is called "fool"killer, i'd try burn (INT down).

you may be right.... i mean on a rough average out of 13 RR i brought back 748.83 and iirc my byakkos axe brought back less than that but it's sill up in the air...

in all honesty this gaxe won't compare w/ Perdu even w/ latent most likely, but it is a step down from it, and a sort of "sidegrade" to byakko's only difference between byakkos and foolkiller is the +7 acc and attk which helps for RR and it's DPS is only a small fraction less than Byakko's

I have ADD so doing an official test recording numbers on lvl 1 mobs for 10+ hours is not gonna happen overnight

Has 'active while engaged on a regular troll mob' been tested?

7 Acc 2 Att, not 7 Acc and 7 Att.

If it wasn't for losing 6 hit, it wouldn't be that bad.

Pretty much every 2-handed DD does?

504 delay weapon, samurai subjob and 7 store TP from gear = warrior reaching 100% tp in 6 hits.

I have some ideas about latent:

    - Collect Weaponskill points (about 100-500?); maybe on imps or trolls
    - foolkiller has the nearly the same color as ares set, maybe you need full set?
