Returning - Outdated windower? and What happened to Brandson!

Hey BG it's been a while...

re-activated my account this week and I'm looking to see what people are using to "enhance" their gameplay.

I use to use windower and Brandsons font pack back in the day but today I went to windower.net and it looks to be over 6 months old? Is this right?

What is everyone using nowadays to make FFXI normal interface stop your eyes from bleeding and have a little more function?

Windower works fine as long as you don't use Recast (or Spellcast with any of the new equipment added in mondays patch). Brandson's work was taken over by Emiko, which you can find there FFXIStyle & FFXICartography

Brandson has quit, but as Aeowin said the project has been taken up and continued by Emiko.

Windower is a little messed up at the moment (with the update yesterday breaking a few plugins and causing crashes), give it a week or two and it all should be back and working.

You will need to download a different hook.dll for it to work on Windows 7. There is a forum thread about it on windower.net.

Also, for some reason folks can only get Windower to work on 7 after you open up IE. I'm one of those people, I have no idea what the deal is, but my game will crash if I don't open up IE first. You don't have to leave it open or anything, and you only have to do it every time after you restart or boot up your PC.

Having the calendar widget open also works if you don't feel like dirtying yourself with IE.

Another hack is to run the "Calendar gadget" on your sidebar when launching. Make sure you get the beta hook, though, 3.4.2.2

I'm pushing for Aikar to make 3.4.2.2. (or a newer 3.4.3 if need by) the official download to make this less confusing, but he needs to install win7 retail first. After he installs that, hopefully he (or I, if I can) can fix this weird IE/calendar gadget requirement.

Windower is still very much alive. Version 4.0 has been released in alpha, and I've been working on porting/creating the plugins for a formal release later this year (maybe)

i personally run trackmania before i log in, works just fine.

Wonderful everyone , thanks for all the info.

I tried the new hook.dll and disabled all the plugins. Windower still crashed for me after the keybinding (no clue why)

I am running it on 64 bit Win 7 and I have the calendar widget open.

good note though , my eyes aren't bleeding anymore due to FFXIStyle which is rather nice.
